How young of a baby

We go to WDW about every 18 months (alternating between October and January). Anyway - We were due to visit this month, but I am 34 wks pregnant. I feel fine and maybe in retrospect we should have gone - but oh well.

So how young of an infant would you take? We are all really wanting the trip!

We took our DD when she was a week shy of a year. I thought it was great! She could go on a LOT more rides than I had thought, and she was too little to be scared of anything. She loved the M&Gs, loved Mickey esp., and even went into the HM w/o an issue. We had her nap in her stroller. If you keep them as closer to their normal schedules as possible you'll avoid a lot of crankiness as well. We had early nights, but it was worth it.

We went this past August and our 3 week old great granddaughter came along. It was my 70th birthday and there were 14 of us, 2 sons and their families. So, there was lots of help to watch the baby as mom and dad did rides. Amara (the baby) slept most of the time and she let mom sleep at night. I really think the baby's disposition will be the deciding factor. We had a ball and will enjoy telling Amara about her first vist to Disney.

Depends on your personality and the baby's. I wouldn't have been able to handle WDW with my first born. He was a very high need baby and I was the typical uptight first-time mom. However I totally would have been able to handle WDW with my second born. I was way more laid back and kind of went with the flow, plus my second child was so easy going. She basically slept and ate, no fuss, no nothing! We took her when she was 14 mths old and it was a piece of cake besides for the fact that I had to carry her in queues and such. She was a heavy 14 mth old and wasn't really steady enough to walk on her own, so when she wasn't in the stroller I had to carry her. I would encourage any parent to travel with a young baby, HOWEVER you need to evalute your baby's schedule, personality, and how you'll handle your baby while on vacation.

Good luck!

How young are you thinking? Personally, I never took my children out of the house until they were at least 8 weeks old. (shots and all) With that said, I would wait until maybe 6-7 months old to start? All of my kids had their first vacations at about that age and they were fine. They could play in their strollers, smile when they saw characters (not Disney characters), nap a lot, hold a bottle and be happy.

Do what's best for you and your family. Only you can be the judge of that.:)

I took our 8-9 month old last year! I would totally take a newborn as long as Im feeling up to it. Super easy to wrap em up in the Moby (Im not a big believer in strollers for newborn infants...I feel like they should be with mom/dad most of the time), and go! Breastfeeding is super easy in the Moby and most rides, you wont have to take him/her out!

Im a pretty laid back mommy and wouldn't mind just taking breaks in the day to just sit and relax with peanut. And if for some reason the baby is just NOT having it, at least their in the Moby, snuggled next to you, you can use a folded bib or washcloth to cover their ears for loud rides or during rides when OTHERS are being to loud!

I did the same thing. I was 7 months along and we opted not to go, feeling fine but...
So with our 4.5 year old son and my 2 month old DD we were off to WDW last week of Jan and the First week of Feb. Perfect, parks next to empty. Best thing, my DD had her days and nights totally mixed up so I always had a kid awake. After one night after the parks all day that DD slept through the night! We woke in the morning and she was still sleeping, the whole dang night. DH and I had had a debate over who was going to poke her to see if she was still breathing. She woke with a smile. Best $3000.00 we ever spent.

Warning: Guests. They wanted to touch. Ask boy or girl (dressed in pink), how old? Sweet, but in a queue, it never ended because you're always passing new people. And we also had those peeps with all knowing comments comments like, 'you know she isn't going to remember this?' 'you should not have her out of the home at this age' Oy. We quickly found that she did better in the small umbrella stroller, more comforting. We had brought it for the 4.5 year old but we swapped. I say go, it is a great bonding time for the new addition to the family.

We are planning on taking our son this Jan when he will be 5 1/2 months when we leave. We have a daughter that's 16 (big gap I know) so we want to continue our trips for her. We are just planning to work around baby's schedule and mom and dad taking turns on the big rides. I need to figure out how to use baby swap too. We went this past June when I was 33-35 weeks pregnant and had a good trip even though there's some things I couldn't do. Maybe you could go next Oct if that's when your used to going? Happy planning and congrats on the little one!

Oh your 16 year old will love this. For years my DS because of his little baby sisters baby swap, was able to ride each of the big attractions twice in a row. Great bonus for the big kid.

We took our second when he was four months old and our third will be 6 months on our next trip. I agree with the previous post that it depends on the disposition of the baby. Both my second and third are just "go with the flow" kids and can sleep anywhere so traveling with them is really easy. We just know that the only thing we can attempt to schedule is our meals and always allow extra time just in case there is an issue. We always know where the baby care center is so if we need a little quiet time I go in there while everyone else rides rides. I know some believe that you should take your child when they can remember. For us we thoroughly enjoy watching our kids grow-up in our WDW pictures so we take them as soon as it is safe to do so. I hope you all have a great time!

The minimum for me is 3-4 months. I wouldn't take anyone younger.
Mine just turned two months and it was actually easier than the 14 month old and that was great too. It was great bonding time with her Daddy too. She loved being held and looking at all the movement any ride like HM, people mover, SPE and off to slumberland. Went off without a hitch, well minus the idea the family was ticked because she wasn't baptised yet.

I went to WDW at 34 weeks pregnant for 3 days and had a blast! We only rode two rides, but had fun taking maternity photos, eating and doing things we don't always do. Our next trip in December will be our son's first and he will be 6 months old. We just need to get him more used to being in the stroller before we go, so we'll see how it goes!

We just took our daughter in September. She hit 3 months old while we were there. It was an incredibly fun trip, and I would recommend it. You definitely don't get to go on as many rides, but you will get to see new parts of the parks. The baby care centers are awesome. We took her in those for most of her feedings. All of them have quiet, dimly lit rooms with rockers for feedings along with tons of changing tables. Animal Kingdom and Hollywood Studios had private rooms with nice squishy rockers. They also have a lot of necessities available to buy in case you forget anything, though I recommend the Garden Grocer website for that stuff. They will deliver straight to your resort and have pretty reasonable prices. While she was napping in her stroller, we would do the rider swap on the big rides. She loved Small World and the Dumbos. Anything with bright colors. Carousel of Progress and the Hall of Presidents turned out to be great nap locations (especially hall of presidents - big side aisles for walking the baby around).

We're going in December and my DD will be 7 months. We would have taken her earlier, but I just kept getting stuck on the fact that it will be nice that she's able to sit up on her own for restaurants and such.

When you take a child under 3 its all about the support system. ;)

It all depends on your baby's personality and schedule, how much help you're going to have, and how much you're willing to sacrifice. If you'd asked me this a week ago I'd have said, "yes, go, take them at any age and have a blast!" Having spent six of the last seven days in Disney World, however, I've now seen enough hot, cranky, overwhelmed, unhappy infants and their hot, cranky, overwhelmed, unhappy parents to make me second-guess my formerly cavalier attitude. I'd go so far as to recommend taking a trip after your baby is weaned, and leaving him or her with a trusted and doting family member for a few days while you're gone -- he or she will never remember it, and you'll all have a better time.
