How would you spend it?

If you were handed $300 and told that you had to meet two conditions (1 - Spend the money in one shot, and 2 - it had to be spent on a souvenir of some sort) in order to get the money, what would you buy?

I ask this because every year that we go to WDW we take quite a bit of spending money for each of us in our family. However, I always end up spending nearly all of mine on other people, and this next trip my wife is making me promise her that I will buy myself something decent. I plan to do this by shaving off $30 from each day's spending money and pooling it together for one item. (Don't think that we are loaded by any means. We just scrounge and save like fools for two years so we can do this.)

So, what would you get?

Expensive is usually not a hard thing to find at Disney when air comes to souvenirs but I am drawing a blank on high priced souvenirs right now. I would maybe get a Big Fig. They have some really cool ones, but are expensive. Good thread idea!

Easy answer: Original artwork. :)

EDIT -- Little known fact: Tom "Biff Tannen" Wilson does art for Disney from time to time in his "Big Pop Fun" series.

Really? I never have looked at the prices on that stuff. I guess I have always assumed it was extremely expensive. If that is the case then I seem to remember seeing a Goofy statue in there once. That may be a candidate.

It's pricey, yes...but not prohibitively so. I mean, you definitely won't be walking out with an original Kinkade for $300....

but you might find one or two Doug Bolly's for that price.

As for statuary and sculptures....they are actually pretty reasonable.

One Little Spark...
I'd get some art then. Either Disney art, or a cel reproduction...

Or some stuff from Sids (it still sells memorabilia even though it's also an FP+ stop).

Or maybe some Star Wars art or signed photos from Star Tours.

Does it have to be something you buy and take home? Could you use the money on a tour or an experience?
Something like the Richard Petty Driving Experience, golfing on one of the golf courses, or one of the tours such as Keys to the Kingdom tour.

My husband loves golfing. He never spends any money on himself (at home or at Disney). So one trip we booked golf for him at Disney's Osprey Ridge golf course and surprised him when we got down there. It was our second Magic Kingdom day, we sent him on his way golfing and he met up with us later. He said he had a great time and would love to golf all of the Disney courses. He still talks about it and that was a couple years ago!

For a big splurge purchase, I would see about hiring a professional photographer (might cost more but still). I've seen other posts in which people can enter the parks to get family pictures taken before opening or after closing. That would be an amazing souvenir!! Especially since I stink with at taking pictures with my cruddy camera and I'm barely in any of then anyway...

I would probably go with art or one of those Main Street building reproductions. But I also like the idea of spending it on a cool experience as well (tours, event tickets, dining, etc).

I tend to do the same thing you do - I end up buying more for other people on Disney vacations, and spend very little on myself.

When I went to WDW in February, my sister and our friends gave me a gift card as a thank you for planning the trip. I ended up buying one of the Olszewski Studios Gallery of Light shadow boxes - the Haunted Mansion one with the Hitchhiking Ghosts, since it's my favorite WDW ride. It's one of my favorite Disney purchases ever. It feels like taking a little bit of the ride back with you.

Definitely would look into things like that, the statues, or the artwork. I was surprised by how reasonable (comparatively speaking) their prices were on a lot of that. And they are all beautiful.

My answer - a Disney purse! I love my Dooney and vera.

My husbands answer - a new watch. He loves watches and has 1 or 2 Disney ones...he always looks in every store and tries them on but ultimately decides against it. I smell a 1 year anniversary present....

Wait isn't it supposed to be paper? Hmmmm
