The Galaxy of Star Wars will take up the current Echo Lake space at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. This new themed land will push the expectations of a theme park land [and the boy wizard] to new heights. The landscape themed to Tatooine will be host to 4 attractions, two restaurants, and two stores.
The first “new” attraction is The Jedi Training Academy which will be a bit different. Kids will sign up in the morning for their lightsaber classes but adults (13+) who want to learn the path of the force will do something different. Participants will need to reserve a “Special Experience” (Pirate’s League, Richard Petty Driving Experience, Characters in Flight). You enter this Tatooine Jedi Temple and you are transported to Dagobah [think of New Fantasyland’s Enchanted Tales with Belle]. In this immersive and dark Dagobah you’ll encounter a small but wise creature, Yoda. Here Yoda speaks to the participant and their group about the way of the force. He demonstrates the power of the force and directs the water to splash in front of you. He then asks of you to raise a tree branch on the floor. Once you achieve that goal, he will give you a hard task: To Life The X-Wing From The Swamp. This is more of the type of attraction that Star Wars fans will geek about. The kids’ Jedi Training Academy will be like the current one but indoors. The adult Jedi academy will fit 10 people every hour with 5 Dagobah Theaters.
The second attraction in the line-up is The Droid Factory inside the large Jawa spacecraft. The queue will take you through many bits and pieces of droids and you will see how the Star Wars Universe’s famous robots were made. Once you get to “loading” you design your own droid in a set-up like Test Track’s design room but you are led by C-3PO. Once you design your droid you are led into another room where you can virtually battle, race, and build against other guest’s droids similar to Test Track’s post show except with three dimensional holograms.
The third attraction, Star Tours: The Adventures Continue already exists, but the exterior and queue will be spiced up a bit. The ride’s facade will be a Tatooine space-port (concept art) with the Millennium Falcon perched atop. Like Japan’s version of the ride, the queue will have more emphasis on the fact that Star Tours is just another flying company. Connected to Star Tours is Mos Eisley’s Cantina (the cantina is a space-port). This quick-service restaurant would fit around 80 people and on busy days the restaurant will have a queue due to popularity. The restaurant would sell sandwiches, wraps, cheeseburgers, Blue Milk [Butterbeer Rival], and chicken wings.
A sit-down restaurant would be The Crystal Moon and a mini-store (couple of permanent carts) next to The Droid Factory would be present.
An untitled e-ticket lies inside Tatooine’s rebel base. As you wind through the queue, you’re enlisted to help the Rebel Alliance overtake the Empire. In the pre-show you’re being spoken to on a screen by the commander of the rebels until the lights shut off and you hear laser/gun shots. Your pre-show now has Darth Vader saying all Rebel Spies will be eliminated and they can choose to join the Empire. After that two doors open in the pre-show, one leading to the Rebel side another leading to the Empire’s. The rides are fairly similar and both are like a KUKA/EMV themed to an X-Wing/Tie-Fighter. The X-Wing will receive transmissions from Luke and Leia, while the Tie-Fighter would get communications from Vader and Boba Fett. Both of the attractions’ layouts would be wild and dark with close turns but here are some specifics. In the X-Wing you’ll be flying through and past asteroids and even going through a Death Star trench scene using very high def projections unlike Harry Potter’s, and would get bumps and bruises from Tie Fighter blasts, it would end with the a close call with Death Star’s laser that can destroy an entire planet. Tie Fighters will feel the shaking of shooting a beam at X-Wings, and the Millennium Falcon would be on your tail chasing you.
Great ideas!I would want a different planet for every Disney resort:
Coruscant atmosphere inside Disneyland with Star Tours, and an indoor ride similar to Autopia.
Hoth in Disneyland Paris Studios with a simulator attraction like Soarin' and an omnimover through the caves of the ice planet.
Shanghai Disney's second park (depending on what it is) can have an indoor Death Star themed land with an enormous walk-through, an omnimover, and a rollercoaster.
Naboo in Tokyo Disney Sea with something like Soarin' but as if you're underwater [hard to explain]
Hong Kong will have Endor with speeder bike coaster and nightly firework show.
