I can understand that. For me, I was planning to go with my two best friends (one is a first-timer) at WDW in September, after a 6 months practice that I was going to do at Disney (Film division) here in France. That was the only period when we could all go, and all was planned, it would have been a huge trip, in good hotels etc. And then, my practice got delayed... I can no more go in September.... so the trip has been postponed to february or may 2005, but there is no certainty we can go... again, I will have a job to find, and those two guys won't perhaps even have holidays :brick:

So, it's pretty depressing, that's why I was considering I wouldn't wait so long with such an unsure future and go in may 2004, for a short trip, in a value resort, with maybe other friends (the others can't go now). Reactivity! :)

JMishy,
I'm in a similar situation as you. Our next trip is planned for June 2006. I'm also pregnant (due May 30 with a girl), and we are planning to go shortly after our baby turns 2. I am going nuts waiting for the time to pass too! We plan on dedicating our tax returns for this year and the next two years to save for the trip.

In the meantime, I've been visiting this site alot...it really does help, listening to music, visiting the Disney Store often. I've even bought a cute Minnie Mouse dress for our daughter to wear on the trip. Just pulling it out of the closet and looking at it helps.

It's not to early to start planning, at least not in my world! Research which park passes would be best for you, look into all the hotels, figure out which days you want to go to which parks...and really, you need to book the trip probably almost a year in advance (am I off on this, WDW experts???) so really you only have a year and a half until you can really start getting excited about it. Anticipation can almost be as much fun as the actual trip (well, not really, but you know what I mean).

I wish it was as easy as saying "just go now" but with jobs, family, finances, it's not that easy if you don't live nearby.

If you want, PM me and we can be e-pals for the next two years as we count down to our trips!

Hang in there, with a 1 1/2 year old and a new baby coming, time will fly and your trip will be here before you know it!

I'd agree that you COULD start planning a year and a half in advance. Problem is, you can't do that online. You can pretty much only book for the next 12 months.

I think once you've gone a few times, you can pull a trip together pretty quickly. I put together a weeklong trip about 40 days prior to actually leaving.

Like the Birnbaum guide says - The key to a fabulous Disney vacation is advance planning. It never hurts.

That sounds very interesting. What kind of benefits or discounts to you get? Do you get more if you work more hours?
Sounds like something I might do to help out with the cost of our 3 times a year trips.:sohappy:
