It's been 3 years since my first, and only, trip to WDW. It will be another 2 1/2 years until I can go again. I have WDWitis so bad already! I want to go tomorrow! I've watched my promotional videos at least 20 times each, I comb through this forum, look at our honeymoon pictures, watch the Travel Channel and listen to Disney CDs. HELP! Is there any cure for this agonizing disease? How can I stay sane?

Are there any tips from people who have had to wait to go to WDW?

Heelp meeee! :hammer:

I'm sorry. There is no cure. (but who really wants one?)

My first WDW trip was in 1978, I was 20. It was the last family vacation I went on. My dad said next time my husband would have to take me. He did...in 1992. It was Lil'mermaid's first trip and she was 4. We went every few years after that (thats how long it took to save up). Now that we are older (in our mid 40's) and the kids are bigger (15 & 9) we can afford to go for a few days every year. Save your pennies, keep those videos & pictures handy and visit with us. Its like a mini trip.

My tip is: "BE HAPPY." Three years ago you went there, and you will go in two more. The last time I went was 10 years ago, and I am not sure when I'm going back.

And my WDWitis is killing me. The same thing as you with music and all. The problem with WDWitis is that you think that going THIS time it will turn it down, but each time you go you realize that you need to go more.

And as a foreigner to me is a lot more expensive to go, not just because the money, but because the visas and all of that. So, ¡Be happy! And please, don't stop being a person with WDWitis, 'cause it brings happiness to the soul.

Enjoy your trip... HIDE ME IN YOU LUGGAGE!!! Seriously, enjoy your trip and in the meantime, grow your WDWitis. Learn the songs, plan the order of the rides, plan your visit, learn the storyline of the rides, learn the history of the parks and rides, etcetera... That should take your time.

Yes, move to Orlando.

But remember,. with the good comes the bad, you are closer to mkt (shudder the thought).

Hence I have to move 40 miles away from WDW

My tip: just GO!

Why can't you go? Do you have small children, or you don't have the money etc?

For me it is simple. If WDW becomes more important than the rest I'm paying for, I'll save and go now, even if I have to make a choice. Some people will take a practice for example, in order to keep some money. Well, I'm sure that next year, I'll spend 2/3 of it for a 10 days-trip. Because to me it will be the best time of the year, and worth working for. Don't care a new car, new clothes (well, I need some though lol), hi-fi system etc. But, well, sometimes even with your best efforts you just can't spend the money to go there, because you don't have it! So... there's not much you can do, besides happily planning your future trip... but come on, I truly think WDW is not that expensive, there is plenty of discounts you can find.

Then, if you have kids, you can find someone to keep them for a week?

For any other problem, I can't say anything though. I don't even knwo why you can't go for two more years. For me it wouldn't be possible to wait that long!:hammer:

I agree - Just go.

Do what I did a few years ago. Charge the damn thing. So what if it takes you a year or more to pay off? It's worth it.

Or, do what I decided to do. Open up a Disney Vacation Fund. I have money taken directly from my paycheck every week, and put right into this account, and if I can afford it, I put some extra in as well.

This way, if nothing else I can get down at least once, if not, twice a year.

Well, finances are a big thing right now. We had 5k saved in our account, but an unexpected emergency came up and totally wipped it out! I was quite upset, because we were going to go on vacation (I haven't been on vacation since our honeymoon). Also, I'm three months pregnant and have a 1 1/2 year old at home. With all of these factors combined, it makes it very difficult (though I didn't say impossible) to go. If I can find a way to go earlier, I'll take it!

I turn 30 in 2 1/2 years, so my husband promised me to take me to WDW and make it a nice BIG splurging trip.

I love your advice though, "Just GO!" Wonderful!

I was in your shoes. My wife and I honeymooned at the Polynesian. Prior to that, I had been to WDW about 5 times; my wife had gone twice before with me. I remember on the last night of our trip, standing on our balcony looking across the Lagoon at the Castle, knowing that it would be 4 or 5 years before we would be back. We knew we wanted to start a family right away and we both agreed that we wouldn't want to go until our kids were at least 3. Not that there is anything wrong with bringing an infant to WDW. But we decided we wouldn't want to do it.

Here's the good news: If you love WDW now, you will love it even more when you get to experience it with your kids. Hang in there. Your next trip will be here before you know it. And it will be worth the wait.

And not to bring you down any further, but trust me - Once you go, it doesn't get any better.

In fact, my next trip is in September. It's not paid off yet, and I'm already pacing at night trying to figure out how I'll be able to go back next March.

There is no cure for Disney Addiction.

We have a vacation account ,too. My hubby puts money every pay into it. We don't see it so we don't miss it. I know about those emergencies (there really is nothing you can do about that). Kids? Well they can be expensive to keep.
Concentrate on that new baby, put away what pennies you can and we will be seeing you there soon enough.

How sad is it that I don't have a "Vacation Account", but a "Disney Account", specifically set up for my Disney World trips.

Just gotta get my girlfriend to open one of those too. Paying for 1 person's tough enough. Paying for 2.....:veryconfu

Vacation & DisneyWorld account mean the same thing.
When I was activly employed I saved in my credit union, too. (we were married so it was always "our" money).

Well yeah, but like my mother says "Why don't you save up and go someplace ELSE on vacation?"

My reply of course is "HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA - ARE YOU INSANE?"

I work part time at our local Disney store so I get huge discounts at WDW.Makes it so we can go 2 or 3 times a year from Illinois.I only work 4-8 hours a week and have been doing this for almost 6 years now.just trying to help

If kids were your only problem... I would just say go! My daughter was 6 1/2 weeks old the last time we went to Disney, and she wasn't a problem at all. She did really well on the flight and was such a trooper the entire week. I was nursing her at the time, and that got a bit interesting (she didn't like "eating" in public!)... but there are baby-care rooms at all the parks which makes it really nice! She'll be 2 when we go next, so maybe she won't sleep through all the attractions and character pictures!

But... since finances are also involved... I can totally relate. One thing that we did a few years ago was to save all the pocket change that my husband and I got. Plus, we'd add any other money that was "found" money. By the end of the year, we had enough money for a trip. We were able to get a package at a value resort and fly down there, too! We appreciated that trip more than most because we had worked really hard to save up for that trip.

We also save pocket change. The kids get a few hundred $ that way. We don't really miss it and its like "found money" to them.
There are so many ways to save. Be creative. (don't we all have to do this anyway, everything has gotten so expensive)

I'm setting a "disney account" right now... and thinking of a Disney vacation around the corner makes me find quickly ideas to make it grow! I save everything I can, resell some old books or old video games, find a part time job for a month etc... right now you have a job: can't you save ie 150$ per month and then in 6 months you take a trip to a value resort?

If not, then don't worry. If you have already planned for sure a BIG trip in two years, then it's good. You can build the anticipation, and think of all the new things you'll see (Mission:Space, Philharmagic, Stitch great escape, Soarin, Stunt Show, Expedition everest)!

Well, in those people's defense - It is tough.

I know I'd have a tough time saving that much. I'm doing about $100 a month, and that's tough.

What I try to do is set a budget by month for myself based on a 4 week paycheck month. And on those 5 paycheck months, that whole extra paycheck goes to the Disney fund.
