How well is Stitch (not just the ride) doing?

About a year ago Jim Hill (and I know how everyone LOOOOOOOOOVES Jimmy on this site) reported about the declining attendence at Stitch's Great Escape and how Stitch related merchandise was selling poorly and just sitting on store shelves. Now a year later I was wondering is Stitch doing any better? With his TV show no longer making new episodes and his ride attracting no guests (as I saw in September) what will happen to the once popular character at WDW? (and yes I do like the character).

when i was there in October it would have periods of being slow. Then when I wanted to go back on the ride they had all the lines filled up like it was a smash hit. It may just be the time of day that people go on the ride. The merchandise in the store as you exit was very cute. I think since the store is near a food court people don't usually go in thinking its just part of that. I love stitch too very much. Even got hubby a shirt that says "warning I bite!" Which he does!!!

Stitch for the Holidays

I heard that the Cast Holiday Sale included a lot of Stitch merchandise. Sorry, not a cm anymore and so did not get to see for myself.

Next time at the MK, it would be interesting to check the "post-show" store to see if it still has mostly Stitch items... or if they are mixing-in general Tomorrowland merchandise or the futuristic trinkets they used to carry.

I heard the same thing. I really believe it was Disney's latest (and hopefully) last overmarketing. They have some great lines, but they blast them everywhere. Having some exclusivity and rarity is a great way to preserve the brand/character for longevity. I hope they start to realize this again.

I heard that as well. And when out in the parks I'm still seeing a lot of stich merch, but not nearly as much as in the past. A new favorite I'm seeing is the incredibles t-shirt (Oddly haven't seen any place selling it though)

I noticed in the post show store, they still have a lot of stitch items, which is understandable, but obviously the new item is POTC. There was a whole turn style shelf with POTC items on it. It seemed a little misplaced though.

Just as a sidenote~over at the Studios a lot of Hannah Montanah and High School Musical merch is being sold all over the park. At carts and in stores as well.

The interesting stuff is when they try and combine the two with pirate stitch.

The ride did seem busier at night than during the daytime in December. Moderate crowds during day but a good wait at night. This was also the first week of December when the crowds were small at the parks. As far as merch the ride store seemed to have all the same stuff that they had two years ago. The Stitch santa hats were still a big seller from the number of people wearing them. Over at MGM I picked up a cool Tower of Terror shirt with Stitch cutting the elevator cable that I never saw before. I think the little guy is still popular I just think the Disney Imagineers that design the Merch are in a slump coming up with ideas for cool stuff. Seems to happen once in awhile with all the gang.

I love Stitch. I got a plush of him in a hula outfit the last time I was there. Me and My mom wanted to go on the ride but it was a 45 minute wait and it was already 1:30 in the morning. So we are planning on doing it first this time.
