How to Make the Most of MNSSHP

Hello Friends,

So being from central Alabama, we have the perk of being less than a day drive from Florida and Tennessee. We just came back from a trip to Gatlinburg where we spent a day at Dollywood. My daughters birthday is coming up in September and I usually give her the option of doing a birthday party with friends or a weekend trip somewhere fun. She told me that she wanted to do Dollywood since she had such a fun time. I started pricing hotels for the 2 nights, admission, meals, and a few rounds of minigolf, when it hit me, why don't we just drive down to Orlando? We won't be back for a full vacation at the World until November of next year, so we really would like to do the MNSSHP. This is something that we have wanted to do in the past, but the timing never worked out. Here is my idea....

Friday morning drive into Orlando hopefully getting there around 2 EST. Checking into All Star Sports, and heading over to MK for 4p.m. entry. Staying until end of party. Saturday morning do a late breakfast at Cape May and then go back to All Star for pool time and maybe head over to Disney Springs. We will leave Sunday morning for our drive back to reality.

We were going to do a full park day at MK on Sunday, but spending an extra $400 for the 3 of us, I decided against it. How would you do the Halloween Party in order to make the most of your time in MK. We are definitely watching the parade, and I would really like to watch the Hocus Pocus show. How are the crowds compared to a normal busy day in MK?

Any and all tips are appreciated!

Also, does anyone have any fun activities to do outside of the park. I figure since Saturday will be a non-park Disney day, I would like to do something fun to make it special.

Lunch at Sanaa at Animal Kingdom can be a lot of fun, and there's lots of animal viewing areas both in the restaurant and all around both parts of that resort.

You might consider resort hopping over to The Contemporary or Wilderness Lodge and renting a boat(s). If your daughter is at least 12 she could drive her own Sea Raycer. Both those resorts have good places to eat lunch at as well.

As far as non-Disney options go, Funspot Kissimmee is 13 minutes from all Star and has multiple roller coasters and multistory go-kart tracks. The Orlando location is 22 minutes away and a little nicer, and when we went a couple years ago an all-day pass got you unlimited rides at BOTH locations.

Along the same lines, I would recommend the buffet breakfast at Boma followed by exploring the Animal Kingdom Lodge on the morning of your non-park day.

In terms of MNSSHP,

(1) Book FP+ for 3 rides at 4 pm, 5 pm and 6 pm,

(2) I prefer the earlier parade (even though the parade crowds are much higher than the later parade) because I have found most rides to be 10 min wait or less between 11:00 pm and Midnight on party nights. Caveat -- I haven't been to a party night since 2014 so maybe this has changed since then (I suspect crowds have increased). Second caveat -- Even after 11:00, I waited over 40 minutes for 7DMT back in 2014 so the low waits do not apply to all rides, but I have walked on or had very short waits for Pirates, Space, Big Thunder, Buzz, Haunted Mansion and others between 11:00 pm and midnight on party nights.

Can you make FP+ reservations of you don't have park tickets?

Disney has two mini golf courses. I would look into those, I've heard both are fun. Also, the Boardwalk has entertainment at night. Last time I was there they had a sword swallower and a magician. Then you can walk over to Beachs andCream and get some ice cream. I always like watching the ferry's. It's very relaxing.
