How to get the most out of the Quick Service Dining Plan

I just took advantage of the fall vacation package that includes the Quick Service Dining Plan. I have used the dining plan twice before so I understand how it works. What I am looking for is some advice on what restruants and items on the menue gives you the most bang for your buck. I am sure this question has come up before and some one will have the answer. I booked 7 nights in October using the promotion code for early booking through me Disney Visa Rewards Card. The offer goes public July 12. Hoping to eat well the week I am there.

A good place to start would be to look over the restaurants' menus shown on several internet sites, see what appeals to you and weigh your options. Maybe it would help to make a list of the restuarants that look good to you with notes about certain meals/platters to take on vacation with you. Good luck and have a great vacation! Happy eating!

I guess to me the answer depends on your definition of "value" and "bang for the buck."
  • Some would say that value is using your QS credits at the most expensive QS restaurants on property.
  • Some would say it's using them at the QS restaurants that give you the most food or biggest portion sizes.
  • Some would say it's using them at places that get you in and out the quickest to get moving onto the next ride so you're making the most of your vacation budget.
In otherwords, it really depends on what you're looking for. :)

I would choose counter service restaurants that have free refillable drinks. Case in point: Columbia House is delish at MK, however no soda fountains such as Backlot Express at HS. You would have to buy an extra drink or pay the difference for a larger one. This is of course if you would need to refill your drink more than once, like me and my disney family.

1. Wolfgang Puck Express (Downtown Disney)
2. Sunshine Seasons (Epcot)
3. Columbia Harbor House (MK)

In my opinion these QS spots offer more/better than the standard burger, pizza, and chicken nugget options! Checks out the menus for these options! I really think you'd enjoy them!

Our last trip at BLT, I found the Contempo Cafe to have really good Quick Service food, plus cupcakes for desserts the size of my baby's head. And it was hardly ever busy whenever we went there. In fact, next trip, if we're staying somewhere else, I'd suggest to my wife that any time we're going to MK, it would be better (and probably faster/easier) to leave the park, monorail/walk over to Contemporary, eat at Contempo and then walk back to MK.

Always remember your drink and your dessert for your meals, especially when at the resort a lot of people don't pick them up because they have their mugs or they are full, but it can save you a snack credit when you go the park and you need it. If you have a child you don't have to purchase a child quick service meal as they all come from the same pool unlike table service. What you choose to eat is up to your personal tastes, but if you're feeling adventurous you usually get larger portion sizes of items that most people don't eat.
