Staying at Cabana Bay over in Universal for the first time soon but i'm still planning to hit up an xmas party. I figure on xmas party night I'm gonna cab it from the Cabana Bay to the Wilderness Lodge which will let me visit the big tree there and take the boat over which is the best way to arrive imho..

but what about when the party's over.. whats the fastest way back to Universal from the from of Magic Kingdom?

Any of the monorail resorts or the TTC should have cabs. No idea how many the resorts will have at midnight, but I'd wager they will be lined up at the TTC since most guests would be exiting there.

However, the Mears taxi estimator here -> http://www.mearstransportation.com/taxi-services/taxi-fare-estimator/ is coming up with $43.85 from Uni to MK. Assuming that is close to accurate, a 2 way taxi trip (plus tip) will almost definitely cost more than a 1 day rental, parking + gas. Just something to think about. I believe there is a Hertz at the Royal Pacific Resort, so it should be easy to do.

Edit: Hertz now has the location listed at Cabana Bay Resort rather than the Royal Pacific, so that makes it even easier.

Here's an idea that might answer a lot of your questions...call one of the monorail resorts(GF, POLY) and ask them on information on taxi cabs. They should be able to give you the phone number and then you can call them directly and find out all your answers from the source, no mis information from others. That way you could ask them about the price from Cabana to WDW and back, they may give you a break if you use their company for both trips(who knows! Doesn't hurt to ask?) This way you would be able to get correct information, although WDWMAGIC Friends are pretty knowledgeable!(LOVE YOU GUYS!);) If it were me, I would call the taxi company and talk to them!

Mears (The taxi company I linked to) I believe is the only company that never has to pay parking to do pick ups/drop offs. The other companies may charge you the $17 parking fee if they have to pay it.
