How to fix EPCOT

My idea has two parts:

PART I - ENCLOSE FUTURE WORLD

The center of Future World, between the two Innovations buildings would be a domed acrylic enclosure. This would symbilize Walt's original EPCOT city concept, which had a giant glass enclosure in its planned city center. It would showcase technologies for environmental controls and feature "outdoor" shows that will go on any day, rain or shine, cold or heat, regardless of real-world conditions. If a show needs snow, the environmental controls can condition the area to the right temperature so that artificial snow won't melt, regardless of the fact that we're in Florida. The rest of Future World's pavilions would be interconnected to Innovations, making all of Future World as a gigantic mall-type enclosed area!

PAR II - Hollywood: A Journey to Imagination

This would replace the current Imagination ride. The ride would actually leave the Imagination building through a new enclosure running parallel along International Gateway and over LBV Boulevard to DHS and ending next to the Fantasmic! Amphitheater. The ride will take guests on a journey through the history of humanity's desire to create and tell stories and the push the boundaries of our collective imaginations. It will start with classics like Homer and Beowolf to tales told through the minds of authors such as Mary Shelly and Edger Allen Poe and Jules Vern. The next act will tie all this to the invention of film, show the retelling of these classics into silent movies. Act III will show how new technologies are enabling the virtual recording off dreams, from sound to surround sound, to 3-D and the future of holographic and other virtual reality technologies future movies will use. The ride could be divided into two parts, each part starting at one park and ending and the other park. Half-way through the ride, guests with park hopping tickets will have the opportunity to exit the ride vehicle and explore the other park.

What's your ideas to fix EPCOT? What did you think of my concept?

First of all, enclosing Future World would drastically take away from the architectural splendor of the pavilions. And that Journey Into Imagination idea isn't really feasible; between EPCOT and DHS there's five hotels, a Hess gas station, and Fantasia Gardens.

For some reason, that would have been perfect if an EPCOT park would have been planned in an actual selected capital city (that is, skyscrapers and urban concrete sprawl)

I don't think puting a dome over FW would be good, but the transport from DHS to Epcot would be cool. I think this may be to drastic, and Epcot needs only a few additions and fixings such as:
The Soarin screen is very dirty, so make it HD or at least clean it
Change the Captaion EO show to something else
Bring back Dreamfinder where JIYI is now.
Add some new rides to WS. A bullet train ride in Japan and a Ratatouille dark ride in France would be great
Fix Maelstrom. There are holes on the ceiling and mold everywhere.
I think that's about it

Actually... A Bullet Train ride from Japan to DHS would be easier than the ride from Imagination to DHS.

You dont think thats way over the top? That route is longer than the length of each park. While i do agree that Epcot needs a lot of TLC, your plans arent particularly feasible. I have a few suggrestions that can utilized current infastructure and attempt to exted its boundarises as little as possible to accomedate future developement.

Epcot Center was orginally themed around future techknowlodgy and ideals (in the FW section). The problem is, the world is moving way too quickly for a themepark environment to keep up. Thats understandible, so i say its about to to "officially skew the theme" to acknowledging the planet and acheivements to improve it. Its hard to particularly explain, so hopefully my examples will give you an understanding.

Universe of Energy:
The pavillion gets an expansion and will include an updated version of Ellen's Energy adventure focused on all types of current energy (Electricity, Nuclear, Plasma, hydro etc.) basically all kinds of energy.
A partially indoor Spark Gap Electric Loop coaster that demonstraights the power of electro-magnetics

Health Pavillion:
It wasnt very smart to remove the WoL imo. I think that health and advancements in it are very important. This parvillion basically takes the place of WoL and also serves as the park's fist aid center. There would be a dark ride that serves as a hybrid of Adventures Through Inner Space/Body Wars. It would be toned down so that no one loses their lunch.
There would be a walk through/Wax Museum of famous Doctors and their breakthroughs in terms of technology.

Mission Space:
I am not entirely sure how just yet, but the building is expanded and if possible, reorganised to allow for an actual space pavillion to be built. The main atribute would be a false ceiling that makes it appear that you are in a space station. Gueast could enter a full-scale reblica of a space shuttle and a new dark ride that takes you through our solar system. It would be an average omnimover, but the total darkness and the effects would make it really out there as you zoom by planets and feel the heat of the sun.. Some of the props from space mountain would be used suck as the astronaut figures (in my version of space mountain, theres a completely different story line that doesnt need them.

The Land
Get ride of Circle of Life Replace it with imax showings of Disney Nature compilations, or something about Friends for Change
Update Soarin'
Add mazez and gardens for people to enjoy

Weather Pavillion
Storm Rider from Tokyo DisneySea

The Seas
Nemo overlay is gone and Crush moves to DHS
I can see another simulator ride, but that would be too many in one park.

I dont really kow what to do with Imagination, SSE or Innoventions

World showcase needs more countries. Im tired of Disney needing to be sponsersed. If disney can redo DCA they damn sure can add pavillions by themselves.I say have a Greek and russian pavillion definately. (Im refraining from any african or south american countries as they should both be in DAK. Build the bullet train in Japan, give Germany the ride it needs and update france. Trun some of the empty space into gardens and lush area. Have the pavillions celebrate their respective holidays. Have that entire section of the park do something special fro the olympics and the World cup.

I don't for a moment think it's feasible, I was just responding to @kermitdefrog that it could be done without going through the mini-putt or five hotels. Actually, the bullet train from Japan would be more feasible, though still quite expensive for what it would provide.
Besides, linking two parks by train would be seen as a rip-off of Universal if Disney were to do it now... ;)

Here's my input on this:

Future World
  • Universe of Energy needs a modern update and face lift with more interactive exhibits around the pavilion.
  • Innoventions needs more focus on newer technology.
  • I like the idea of a magnetic coaster and I think it deserves its own pavilion just to focus on magnetism.
  • Weather and Health are good ideas and can be within a pavilion set with exhibits and rides with other sections.
  • Journey into Imagination needs a face lift.
World Showcase
  • Japan needs a ride, but no bullet train and anything big.
  • More countries is needed and there is a spot where that can be put in with rides and exhibits.
  • General face lifts in most countries.
The only reason why I say no to the bullet train, although it's a good idea, is that EPCOT already has a monorail to Magic Kingdom, a boat ride to Hollywood Studios, and buses to almost everywhere.

I didn't realize that here was empty land under WS and next to the DHS parking lot. They can run a people mover straight through the middle of both properties, build hotels and retail through this system on these properties. It can be built as a single development and the construction of the people mover would be paid from the development of these two properties, like how Worlds Resorts is being built now in Los Vegas.

I seriously hope Disney reads these boards because we have so many good ideas they can use for free!

With Universal about to spend $1.5 billion and connect both their park via Harry Potter train, an attraction connecting EOCOT to DHS isn't that too far fetched, one worth a closer look!

I just checked the RCID zoning. The land under WS is developable. The land next DHS parking is zoned reservation, except for where you see that line cutting through the middle of it, which a route is allowed to run through.

Coming from a 14 year old child-I think that Disney needs to build Epcot's future world from the ground up the only thing left is Spaceship Earth. From their we separate Future World into four new mini lands:

  • City of Tomorrow- the largest of the four with Walt's original Epcot tower- have a new home of the future and people movers. Much like a smaller and toned down version of E.P.C.O.T city.
  • Transportation- a large showcase building with test-track, a ride through the automobile history, and many more exhibits and attractions for the automobile's history and future traveling types. I imagine the main floor of the attraction to be much like the transportation area in the Smithsonian-American History and flight museums.
  • Ocean-here is an area for the future of the Ocean and famous ships- exhibits would include a large flagship one for Titanic with an ending encouraging visitors to donate money to help protect the ship. The glorious thing is that only replicas are allowed-also some more sea themed attractions like a sub type one where guest can explore the sea in a wacky and fun way
  • Space- this is without a doubt the new flagship area for the park here Mission Space will have its home, Space Travel attraction, the space elevator, a moon attraction and really a all around space station that offers a glimpse in to the far and near future. Also an added thing would be a track the prob type area where you can see what a prob on another planet is finding etc.
  • Technology- one word - APPLE
So thats about it for right now
Sam!

I am of the opinion that Epcot isn't truly that bad (when compared to DHS and DAK). Add a ride or two to Germany, Japan and the UK. Boat ride in Germany, bullet train in Japan, celebration of British lit in the UK.
Future World needs some updating but nothing major. Bring back Dreamfinder to Imagination, maybe expand on Mission Space (with more space pavilion items), change Soarin' to Soarin' over Florida or the World, and make it in HD. As much as I would like to see new pavilions (Russia would be neat), I like the green spaces between the pavilions now. Update Innovations. That is all. No major overhauls or major additions needed like in DHS or DAK.

Epcot needs overhauls in Future World or an update and name change

Keep the name Epcot. What would you change it to? Everyone knows and loves the name Epcot, leave it alone. Future World doesn't need an overhaul, just some minor changes. Maybe a new attraction. It isn't in dire need like DHS or DAK.

No I mean Future World needs a new name make it Science land or something there is not thing that screams innovation or future to me.
