How Much??!!!

this is a wild question no one may have the answer to but it has had me guessing for awhile. Does anyone have any estimates how much each individual park pulls in a day? Talking about money. Then how much do you think the entire Walt Disney World Resort (parks, hotels, downtown, water parks) bring in all in one day? Just wondering if anyone had any educated guesses or maybe even knew. Sorry if this is not the right area to post this.

The MK's Capasity is 100,000 people. I dont think they hit that every day, so lets just say they get half that number on average. so that would be 50,000 people. Again lets go low, and say the average cost for a ticket is $50. That would be $2,500,000 per day.

The other parks get less people than MK does. So lets say they only get 33% of what the MK does. That comes to 33,000 people per day. again, we will use $50 per person. That comes to $1,650,000 per day for each other park.

So a daily gross for all 4 parks using the math above would be.
149,000 Guests
$7,450,000 per day from ticket sales

or
54,385,000 Guests per year
$2,719,250,000 per year.

That doesn't include the water parks, i couldnt find any real numbers other than the capacity at MK which is 100,000 people. It is also said the monorail carries 150,000 per day. So i went with a number that sounds about right. If you add in food, plus gifts, plus hotel stay, that number will probably double. I think the average person would spend roughly $30 at any of the parks for food / gifts. Then there is the hotel costs... and the water parks...

They make a pretty penny.

INteresting math tabulations - and most likely a really really low estimate of the true numbers once you add in the food and souvenirs and pizzas and sodas and water bottles and Pal Mickey's and rain ponchos and ice cream cones etc etc...Actually, Disney does a corporate annual report that does report the gross park income every year - it does not break it down between the parks and it does not even break it down as to how much from each portion of the parks they report to their stockholders. Disney's Revenue last year (2005) was 31.9 billion between parks, movies, and merchandise.

Not so sure that's correct. I think you're about 30-40,000 high on that number. I seem to recall the capacity around 60 - 70,000 from other sources/articles.

As to the original post... I couldn't find numbers specific to WDW, but the annual report for the company has the following information for 2005.

Parks & Resorts
Total Revenue: $9.02 Billion
Park Admissions: $2.77 Billion
Merch, Food & Drinks: $2.88 Billion

Edit: http://corporate.disney.go.com/investors/annual_reports/2005/ was the source.

!4.5 Billion of a 31.9 billion total revenue -- not bad, huh? Now I want to own a theme park -- well, not just any themepark -- I want a Disney themepark --

For me being wrong, i was only off the ticket admission by like 60 million. Thats not to bad. I cant remember where i found it, i think it was allears that listed the capacity though. It was a post saying that one day in the summer they broke capacity, and didnt let anyone else in. It was 96 degrees outside and the poster complained about the day. So it might or might not be true, but thats why i didnt put anything for sure.

I took a guess, it just happened to be pretty close to the actual amount they make =)

Well, not really. :o

Your post had 2.7 billion for just WDW. The numbers are for ALL parks.

edit: can't spell... :(

Last year's attendance for MK was 16.1 million people. Divide that by 364 days (I believe MK was closed down a day for a hurricane) and you get a daily average of 44,230. It would be hard to determine the average admission cost per person due to the many ticketing options available (ie., Annual Passholders, Various length Magic Your Way tickets, comp. tickets, CM admissions, etc.)

Check out Theme Park Insider for the attendance averages of the top U.S. theme parks http://www.themeparkinsider.com/flume/200512/2/

ok, but the breakdown for guests is pretty close, its how much they pay that varies. Check the post above it has the park averages, i was close on all 4 WDW parks. For just a random guess considering the only fact (that might not even be true) is the capacity of 100k at MK.

I think capacity is around 200,000...at least that is what a CM told me last year. We went two weeks after New Year and it's very slow. The CM was telling us that MK was at capacity 4 days straight (this was 2005). I asked her what capacity is and she said roughly 200,000...

Bills, bills, bills.

Now that we've figured out the "in", how about figuring the "out."

Making magic ain't free, you know.

I'd love to compare my August AC (electricity) bill with WDW's!

Cap at MK is NOT 100,000...
Its not even 75,000.

I can't say what it is (fun fact, Disney no longer releases both daily attendance numbers and capacity numbers because to do so would be in violation of Securities and Exchange Commissions edicts governing insider trading) but suffice it to say, these numbers it is not

"They" told me it was 70.000, but they close down main gate at 60.000... to give some room (10.000) for resort guests etc. etc....

This is extremely off topic, but what is that in your avatar Corrus?

Maybe the entire property is around that. But considering that MK averages ~40,000 a day, it wouldn't make sense to have such high capacity at one park, because operating costs would go through the roof.
