So, how much is too much when designing and building a Toontown land? Meaning, to what extent should the designers go in "world building"? How many character houses is too many? What does everyone think? ...

How Much is Too Much for A Toontown?

The main reason I ask is because I'm currently designing a version for my personal Walt Disney World overhaul project. I suppose the REAL question is, is this setup too redundant? ...
The Neighborhood (in color)
- Mickey's House
- Minnie's House
- Donald's Boat
- Goofy's Playhouse
- Pete's House
- Chip 'n' Dale's Treehouse
The Country (fully black and white)
- The Mouse Farmhouse
- Steamboat Willie
- Horace's House
- Clarabelle's House
The Neighborhood (in color)

- Chip 'n' Dale's Treehouse

Are there any rides in the Toontown or is it just walk-throughs?
A black-and-white dark ride themed to the classic cartoons like Steamboat Willie and such might be pretty cool, and if you did that it might take away some worry of redundancy having 8 houses.
Those are just houses. There's a House of Mouse restaurant as well as a "Plane Crazy" coaster. I also didn't include the "Downtown" area (home of the House of Mouse) which includes the "Toontown Hall of Fame", a dark ride through the history of animation (cartoon GMR, disguised as a Hall of Fame).
Perhaps remove Pete's house but leave a reference through a "Pete's Garage" downtown. I could also eliminate Clarabelle's house and Horace's house and instead give them themed "stables" near the Mouse Barnhouse (i.e. Armoir with mirror in Clarabelle's, etc.)

Yeah, I like that idea. Maybe you could add something with Roger Rabbit, like maybe a house for him or something. But I like what I see so far

I wouldn't have three mouse houses, especially if you have a House of Mouse restaurant. It'd be nice keeping the country section, but I'd suggest giving the farmhouse to another character.
I've been thinking of eliminating the Mouse Farmhouse and just keeping a barn in general for a show that was already planned alongside the house. But I kind of like the idea of at least a small shack as a farmhouse referencing early Mickey Mouse cartoons...perhaps you could walk through it in queue for the "Barnyard Hoedown" show I mentioned.

You can always keep the farmhouse and theme that to Horace Horsecollar. Have him having nightly movie nights in his barn? Then you can have one day for classic Mickey, one day for classic Donald, one day for classic Goofy, etc. In between films there would be humorous projections of Horace's silhouette messing with his rinky projector.
