When pricing out that trip to WDW, at what price do you start raising your eyebrow and readjust things? LOL

The added cost of dining if it is not free. For a 13 day trip the cost is $2168 in dining but we got it for free. If we have to pay for dining, then we have to cut the amount of days of the trip or go to value resort instead of moderate------Which I refuse to stay in the value resorts. I was looking at the cost of food when we were out there a couple weeks back and it is crazy I think they up the prices to make you feel like you are getting a good deal on dining.

The cost of the resort is #2. I dont think we will ever be able to stay at a deluxe resort, but as long as the moderate fits comfortably in our budget, we are good to go. When we go to WDW, we always like to go for at least 11 days at minimum. Although we are going in December only for 6 days just because we have never been there during Christmas time. I cant wait to see the World all decked out.

I think that $2500 is a pretty good number, maybe even $2000 for less days.

I booked my honeymoon and the number is $5000 and I think its the first and last time we will ever spend that much to go.

I think some of this also comes down to what you're willing to spend on a vacation in general and what your must have vs. indulgence factors are at WDW.

i.e. one person may not be willing to spend too much over $2500, $5,000 may be the avg cost for the next person, $7,500 may be the max for the next, and so on and so forth. Then you factor in where you stay, how long you stay, how many days you get park tickets, do you add hoppers, and how you dine and the numbers, preferences and tolerances are going to be all over the place.

Example- I have a friend who has very similar lodging, dining, and ticket preferences to us; however, we never go more than a week and they usually go two weeks. So, her comfort zone for WDW vacay costs is pretty much double what mine is. I have another friend who usually goes the same duration as we do, but they never stay in anything less than a deluxe suite or villa, they always do the deluxe dining plan, they always make room for V&As, and they have some other treats they always work in...so their budget is also more than double ours. i.e. it all comes down to preferences and musts.

I'll do the math for the trip I took last week.

DVC for the year is 2400.
Airfare cost us 600.
Park tickets cost us zero since we got annual passes last year.
Garden grocer was 350.
We spent about 700 out of our pocket for some meals and what nots.

So that's a total of 4050 and on the years we do get our park passes its about 5500.

Oh for sure, thats what it comes down to! I was just wondering what that level was for people individually....like what is your friends moment where she's like...Hmmmm, I wonder if we need THAT many days. Or THIS resort or something...lol How many times did she put in a Deluxe and downgraded to a Moderate Deluxe or something, you know? haha

How on EARTH do you get those prices for that many days?? Im getting $2293 for 4 days!

(Granted, Im buying for 2 adults and 3 kids, does that mean anything in your prices??)
They must be talking about just dining? Or per person?

Our trip(s) come down to the amount of days...the most we spent was 9 days, and while it was still magical at the end, diminishing returns had set in (due to being wore out).

My last trip cost roughly £6000 ($9800)!

It included:
4 14 Day Disney Passes
4 14 Day Universal Passes
14 Nights at Pop Century
Return Airfare from England to Orlando

This does not include dining or souvenir spending.

$2500 is a bargain! Seriosuly you guys get it so much better.

Two Adults and one kiddo with dining and airfare for seven nights at mods....at $3200-$3500 my eyebrows start to go up.

Once upon a time we had a little more "f" you money so to speak and stayed wherever we wanted but thanks to corporate america thinning the herd for younger, less experienced and cheaper workers my wife had to change jobs a year and a half ago losing quite a bit of income so now we are a little less carefree with what we can spend.

On our 8 night trip to the GF last December we spent somewhere in the range of $10,000. We were 2 adults, 1 child, and 1 child who was 11 and paid adult prices (painfulllllll).

We had a split GF reservation since the room only discount was valid for only part of our stay. Our hotel for a total 8 nights (2 + 6), 2 night QSDP (the breakeven point to make it a good price to get the refillable mug), and 9 day park hopper ticket package was $5400.

Our airfare was about $1000. We attended MVMCP for $250. We went to La Nouba for $470.

We had a TS meal each evening including CRT and HDDR (Cat 1). We also went to Chef Mickeys for breakfast. Just for those 3 I think we spent about $650. Add in another $1500 or so for all other dining.

We easily spent over $1000 on souvenirs. I know we went a little overboard (especially since this was NOT our first trip), but I had a Disney Visa Rewards card that had about $1400 on it and things felt "free" when using it. Add in the fact that Christmas was right around the corner, we just went hog wild :).

It CAN add up. It was a little depressing after I put all of the numbers together. This was our first stay at the Grand and I felt it was not worth the price. The next time we go (in a few years) we will stay at the Wilderness Lodge again and hopefully get the trip in for under $6000 or $7000.

yep...

Im booking a trip over xmas 2013, granted we are staying atr the Boardwalk for 6 nights....either 2 rooms...currently booked both waterviews with balcony requested. I will try to get a Villa but they are currently not available. my anticipated costs with no discounts using the Deluxe Dining plan will be 15k..that includes the drive down...on additional night at shades of green(we always go down a day early) and all spending money.....even paying that off over 18 months is a chore

Ill caveate what I said with this, Disney has a pricing plan for most families..and I appreciate them for that. While I wouldnt stay at a Value for anything other than a one night layover, they provide thousands of families the ability to enjoy the Magic of Disney.
