How much for souvenirs?

So.... how much should I give the kids for souvenirs? Originally the plan was around 100 each, but some stuff came up and I'm thinking around 50 each would be more reasonable.
That's enough for a shirt and some candy junk? I can't really see them getting stuffed animals. I'm buying the Mickey hats (for cheesy family photo). I guess I don't remember buying very much at Disneyland when I was a kid except for the stuffed animal (which we got on the way out).

Children shirts have run up to $20-$30 these days, and candy/treats can range from $3 to $7. $50 is pretty reasonable. If it were me, I'd rather spend $50 on souvenirs than $100, and perhaps use the extra cash for leeway in more 'family' experiences (dinners, pictures, etc.)

Yeah, I was gonna give them gift cards because I don't want them coming to me when the want something. The rule will be when it's out, it's out.

Do you have a target red card? If so, I've heard you can get 5% off on those gift cards. It's not much, but if you're like me every little bit helps!

Maybe give them the gift card a few days into the trip and not on the first day , that way they won't have it all gone right away, and if they have time to think about what they want to buy.

I think it depends on the age of your kids. For a little one (under 10) $50 should be plenty. A teenager will want/need more (Tshirts, snacks, other little items), I would go no lower than $75.

Maybe a little more than $50. Maybe $35 when you get there and $35 halfway through. If they flu through mo money might not tell them about the 2nd gift card. Lol.

We gave our 2 oldest $100 each in Disney gift cards. They also wanted their birthday presents from the grand parents in Disney gift cards as well. They also plan on using money they earned from their chores. No asking mommy and daddy for anything!

We always get them ears and a stuffed animal. They will be 9 and 6 next trip. I kind of rationalize things like t-shirts. I kind of double count t-shirts as back to school clothes. But I would think 50-75 is reasonable.

I agree here, when my kids were little, they didn't spend much, but now that they are teenagers, they spend considerably more.

Actually it should come down to what the budget on vacation allows. For me and the wife we really do not set a budget on souveniers because we buy a lot of things for our house. Now I always save up money outside of the budget we kinda of have because I buy a new WDW watch everytime I go. So spending $300 on a watch hurts no one since I saved all year for that watch. The DWF and I typically spend about $300 to $500 a piece on ourselves and also buy each other little surprises. We look at it this way. it's our vaction and we saved all year and we want to splurge and just have fun. Now taking my Grandson I would probably spend about $300 on him because he is my Grandson and well worth everything to me. Grandma would say that's enough and Pap-Pap would say let's get and wear our silly hats togehter for the day. The best part about that is he and I would wear them all day long. If it came down to having kids again (Mine Grown) yes I would budget and not spend as much on the wife and I as we do. I always tried to make sure the kids came first and had soveniers to bring home and remember. I know WDW is expensive and I understand budgets fully. I always found it hard when taking the kids to WDW to not get them this and that. Some yesars I spent a decent amount over budget and my DWF would ask when heading home how bad. But when I look back at those years and times, we always manged to get through it until the next WDW vacation came around again. WDW has always been special and always worth it to me. The times had and the times to come are worth every penny I blew and the memories are just priceless. How many of your kids like mine still talk about those trips and are now taking there own families and making there own Memories a new. To me this is price less and if I am a fool for what I have done, then I am one really big happy fool.

Our upcoming trip is for 5 nights. I plan to give my daughter $20 per night. She can spend it all that night or combine it for something larger. She loves the stuffed animals and they can get quite expensive.

We do $50 per child but will buy them a shirt each and not make it come out of that 50. They're only 6 & 8 and sometimes they have money left over

I would recommend checking if you have a local Disney store close to you and purchase most of the stuff ahead of time. They have sales pretty often and might be cheaper than in the park! You might can even buy stuff online and save money that way too!
