How much do you tip the Maid in your room? Last two trips we stayed at wilderness Lodge and the Beach Club. My average tip is $10.00 a day per room, I have two rooms as we have five children. This amount didn't seem to get us any towel animals.
If you really want one for your kids perhaps try asking the front desk if there is anyone on staff that knows how to do them. I'm sure if you ask they will find someone who knows how to do them and get one put in your room.
I got my first set of towel animals when I was on a cruise and it was a highlight of my night sometimes. I also loved that they would pose my Oswald with the towel animals even though it wasn't a Disney cruise.
I would have to imagine 10 dollars a day per each room would have to be more then enough as long as your kids are rather clean and don't trash the place day to day.
I personally think the fact that some hotel staff have decided that towel animals are for good tippers is a little sad. On our cruise ship we didn't tip until the end of the trip and we got an animal every night. Even though the room was only 2 adults we still tipped more because of the towel animals. This is how it should actually work. If it wasn't an expected tip for service perhaps more of the house keeping staff would learn how to make the animals which take seconds to do especially Mickey heads and then would get better tips and happier customers. When it becomes a thing that people do to hint they want someone the housekeep staff doesn't care and will take all the extra money with no extra work.
Like I said we always tip at the end of our stay. This also prevents a housekeeping worker from being lazy towards the end of the week. I know unlike the cruise it isn't the same person in a 7 day period so sometimes we split it into two tips but we never leave a nightly tip.
Thank you very much for your response. I think you are 100% right. I will tip at the end or split it into two. I never really considered that only certain people can make the animals and really only one small part of the trip. I was more concerned that I was doing something wrong I suppose.
