I remember seeing Return to Oz years ago on the Disney channel. I actually saw it a couple of times on the Disney channel. I think this movie kinda scared me at times when I first saw it, but after I kept watching it I don't think it scared me all the much. I guess I got used to it. I love this film.

I had not seen this movie in like 20 years, so I was very excited when my dvd of Return of Oz came into the mail yesterday. There are some things that I remember from this movie even before I put the dvd in and when I was watching the dvd it helped me remember a few more things about the movie. I just watched this movie on dvd just now.

The Disney version of Oz is a lot different from the 1939 Mgm version of Oz. I like both versions.

Here is a link to the dvd of Return to Oz.

I think I remember seeing it once some years ago when the Disney Channel did those free weekends. I remember as being quite dark. Didn't the queen or witch remove her own head? Or am I thinking of something different?

It was dark, because in the books Oz could be a dark place at times.

She was actually called a Princess not a queen and she did change heads. She kept all these heads in a hall and she would like take one head off and put it up and put another head on. It was really odd lol. These heads would just be there and they had life and different voices. When she would change heads her voice was different.

The 1939 mgm movie called the "Wizard of Oz" is based on the book called "The Wonderful Wizard of Oz" . The Wonderful Wizard of Oz is the first of fourteen books by L. Frank Baum. Disney's Return to Oz is based on the second and third of these fourteen books by L. Frank Baum. The second book is "The Marvelous Land of Oz" and the third book is "Ozma of Oz" >

Disney's version of Oz is closer to the books than the Mgm version of Oz. Now even though the Disney version is closer to the books, Disney still has the ruby slippers. In the books Dorothy wore silver slippers. The Mgm version of the Wizard of Oz in 1939 changed her slippers to ruby to take advantage of Technicolor. I guess when Disney was making Return of Oz they might have figure that if Dorothy had silver slippers like in the book that people might not understand, since the 1939 Mgm version of the Wizard of Oz is so well known.

I remember wanting a Tik-Tok when I was little.

And yeah, the movie could be a little scary at times. Like when one of the Wheelers turned to sand and his head split in two. That was pretty out there for a kid's movie.
