How long in DW

My fiance and I are planning our honeymoon. We are going to be going to Disneyworld starting December 4, 2006. At this time of year, what is the ideal amount of days we should plan on being there? We don't want to be rushed and want to get to see everything. Neither of us have been there. Is 8-9 days too much time?

I would definitely say 8-9 days is sufficient, especially since you've never been. It being your honeymoon, I would want to take it easy, too. We go every year for 7 days, and we are seasoned visitors! I would think your initial thought would be okay--if you want to go longer that is advised, too! WDW is really cool around the holidays; you will really enjoy yourselves!

There is no such thing as too much time in WDW. To take in as much as possible I would take 2 days at MK as well as Epcot and 1 to 1-1/2 days at MGM and AK. There are also a number of other things on property that could fill out several more days like Down Town Disney, Disney Quest, Typhoon Lagoon, Blizzard beach as well as several VIP tours of the parks. Also the time of year you are going is IMHO the absolute best. All the parks and many of the resorts are decorated for Christmas and there are the added events like Mickey's very merry Christmas party at MK and the Candlelight processional at Epcot.

If you have got the money to swing an 8-9 day trip by all means do so. Just do your homework before you go and plan out what you are going to do. If you don't like to or are nervous to do the planning give Kingdom Konsultants (1-866-566-7858) a call and they can set up pretty much everything for you all the way down to a planned itinerary. I have used them several times for room reservations and they are simply the best around.

Yep, here's another vote for calling Kingdom Konsultants! There's no such thing as a WDW vacation that's too long, so nine days would be terrific.

9 days is fine. The parks take 7 days to see fully (maybe 6 when you are going) and then you'd have time for the rest of the World. Keep in mind, Blizzard Beach will be closed for refurbishment at that time, however.

I think it all depends on if you are in the same mindset on what you want to do while you are there. Enjoy it and remember to relax! The longer time will give you time to do that -- you will be able to see everything and then take the time to go back to your favorites and see all the shows. (Don't miss Lion King at AK - it is awsome)

Last year my wife and I went for 7 days, and this year we went for 9 days, and I still felt like there was so much more to do. I say, the more days at Walt Disney World the better. Ditto. The longer visits allow for a more relaxing vacation. WDW is awesome when you can slow the pace a little and soak up the details.

We have been staying about 10 days per visit for the last several years. We had a 15 day visit one year. Our original plans called for 11 days at WDW and 4 days at the beach. We just couldn't leave and were able to add the extra nights at POR (it was DL then) on short notice. What a time! I love swimming days with a late night closing down MK.

We got engaged, Honeymooned and spent every anniversary in WDW (except in 2003) and we always try and do 10 days minimum. We figure 9 days would be the least we would go. We are coming all the way from California so the travel takes up much of the day and the flight home usually is so early that we lose the last day so 2 of the days we consider travel days and with 9 days that gives us a full week in between. A full week allows us to see everything (even when I took my wife for the first time) without rushing and even seeing some things multiple times. We also could spend some time just enjoying the resort and other things outside the 4 main parks. Now the only difference I see is that you are going in December and we are use to the longer hours of the summer and also being able to enjoy the water parks which might be closed for rehab or just to cold to visit in December.

The 10 or 11 days also gives us a chance to try a different resort for 3 or 4 nights before we switch over to our favorite (the Polynesian) for a week. The mix of resorts and locations makes it more interesting.

Your first day there will be on my birthday! :sohappy: As everyone else above said, the longer your trip, the more you can relax. I'd do 7 at minimim just to see everything. A few more days and you can slow down, take in a few shows, spend some time in Pleasure Island (it's still open, right?) and what ever else you want. If you don't do or see everything, just plan another trip soon.

I'm going to pitch in here and say if you can stay at least 10 days to 2 weeks that's the best, at least it is for us... we love to take some down days and just enjoy the resorts and down town disney... we honeymooned in '03 in December for 2 weeks and we came back feeling like we could have stayed longer and done more! The best part about staying 10-14 days? when you're getting close to the end of that first week it is the best feeling knowing you still have a week left! It slows you down and helps make your trip more relaxing...

Whatever you do - be sure to book the dining plan - especially since y'all have never been there...

If money is a big decision in how long y'all can stay - don't be afraid to just do a moderate so you can stay some extra days... the moderates are beautifully themed and though they aren't as large as the deluxe resorts - who needs that much space on your honeymoon? LOL! It's worth the extra time - not to mention you can book a King room at the moderates and be guarenteed the space! At the deluxe resorts (unless you book a King suite) there is no guarentee's that you'll get a King.. and who really wants to have 2 beds on their honeymoon? ok - so back to the question... remember you only get one honeymoon - stay and enjoy yourselves... the real world will be waiting whenever you choose to return... Great choice of location though! Disney really makes honeymoon's magical!

I am going to be the voice of reason here. Having never been before you might be a little overwhelmed by the size of the place. You might get confused at times about the transportation. There is SOOOOO much to see and do that there is no way possible to fit it into 8-9 days. You will be able to do all the parks at least twice. I hope you are planning on staying on property at a Disney resort. This is the best way to go. This is supposed to be your honeymoon, not a run, run, run, get 1 more ride in, pass out in your hotel vacation. Enjoy your time together. Spend the extra money if you have it and do a classy dinner, see the shows, sleep in late, stay out late and enjoy it at night, the fireworks are all a must. Fanatsmic is a must in my opinion. You would be better to take your time, go slow, pay attention to the little details, and not wear each other out. You have got the rest of your lives to go back and see more, and theres always the trips with the CHILDREN!!!!! The time of year you have picked is very good, atleast it wont be mobbed. We spent 10 days at WDW for our honeymoon. That left us with plenty of time to really see and do anything we wanted. We spent 2 full days at each park (1 at Animal Kingdom). We also spent time at the pool, downtown, Boardwalk and we visited some hotels. We eached picked a few places to eat at and made sure to eat at all of them. In 10 days we had an adventure and romance.

I am with you. We usually stay 7 days, but cannot seem to fit it all in because I feel like I am missing something else. I want to spend a day by the pool relaxing, but change the plans to go back to a park to see a certain attraction again. We skip the water parks as well because I say 7 days is not enough. It frustrates me because I remember when I was a younger adult, I would stay for 5 days complaing that was not enough. We now extend it to 7 and not enough still. Gosh I would love to be able to stay 2 weeks, but I doubt I could find a job that would allow me to be off that much at a time. I just need to relax more about it and do those things because it is not like it will be my last trip to WDW. Somehow I always treat it like it is my last trip, though, and skip the relaxing, non-park stuff. In general, there is never "too many" days at WDW.

Every 2 or three years I take a 21-day vacation at WDW. I also have several other one week or 10 day vacations in between. Hence the WDW Addict under my name here. :lookaroun

Generally when I go that long, the first week is with one of my usual traveling partners - plus one or two people that have never been. That's the most fun for me! Introducing new people to WDW. I think we should all get commission! :lol:

This year I'm going from December 10th to January 2nd, so a little longer than 3 weeks. The first week will be mostly the parks. After that, I use WDW as a base and go to different places around Fla. I still pop into the parks though, and will be spending New Year's Eve at Epcot again!

Like others have said - go until the money runs out!:lol:
