How long in advance do you book?

I posted about rehab schedules because I would like to avoid missing a favorite attraction. Last trip it was Pirates. Two before that, Space Mountain closed on day 2 of our trip (luckly, we rode it 4 times on day 1).

The schedules don't seem to be out too far in advance so I was wondering how far in advance do I need to book. We will be staying at Dixie Landings again (still don't know why they merged it with Port Orleans so we still refer to it as DL). We are planning on going early Oct 04 or Late Jan 05. Problably Jan though.

When should I book?

Thanks.

You shouldn't have to worry about booking far in advance for those dates. You could always play it safe and just put a deposit on it for now or you could just make the reservation and delay the deposit as long as possible (usually only a few weeks).

Thanks. The reason we picked those times was when I asked for what the least attendence times these two were part of the list. Anyone go those times and what are the lines like?

Thanks,
Mike

I love to go in the winter...get away from the cold and snow and enjoy some fun in the sun. We have gone in Jan, Feb and March. The weather is nice...warm in the day and cool in the evening. (thought once the temp got to 27 one night in Feb). The hours are shorter, but so are lines so you can still get alot done. No need for an afternoon break. Rehabs do take place so you have to work around that. Its a matter of personal preferance.

When to book

Well Mike, our last 2 trips were taken in Dec, and Jan. And I must say that we did enjoy not having to wait in long lines for rides, but the park hours are shorter. But the weather is perfect. Pleasant during the day and chilly at night. I recommend a light jacket at least in Jan. It was unseasonably chilly in Dec. when we went. (first week), but we got through it okay.

But what you need to look at, I think, is whether or not you're going to make any reservations for dinner, lunch, etc. , as you're at an advantage to book those 90 days in advance. The other thing to consider is that during Dec./Jan., typically these days, you have Pop Warner, Cheerleading, and Volleyball Championships held for junior high, high schoolo, and colleges. Now they typically book the All Star Resorts, but sometimes there is overflow shifted to other resorts during Dec./Jan.

Just some food for thought.

Thanks HennieBogan1966,

We have been in Feb on our honeymoon 10 years ago. The weather was nice but was unsure if Jan would be too cold.

I would rather have shorter park times if we can avoid crowds.

And the last time we went was March and it was crowded, there were school breaks at the time. We stayed at the All-Star Sports for 2 nights then moved to Dixie Landings after some complaing becuase the resort was full of cheerleaders. It was loud and crazy. My wife was pregnant at the time and she started feeling sick the week before and spent the whole trip feeling lousy. The loudness of the resort was so bad she wanted to go home so that is whey I tried to get us switched to somewhere else.

I also thought they should have said when we booked that the convention was on in our hotel. We would have booked in another hotel.

I appreciate the info. I think we will go in January. Eary Oct. is huricane time. Another thing I would like to avoid.

Thanks again,
Mike
