How long from WL to MK

We (my DH, 2 DDs and myself) are staying at the WL. We have 8:15 reservation at Crystal Palace. MK had EMH in the AM that day. I'm wondering how long it should take to get to the park
and through security, ticketing, etc???

Also are the opening ceremonies at 8:00 for EMH guests or 9:00 for the general guest?

We stayed at WL back in December of 2006 and loved it! If I remember correctly, the ferry ride to MK stopped at Fort Wilderness also but it was still a relatively short trip. I'm guessing it took us 15 minutes at the most to get from the boat landing at WL to the landing at MK and then factor in another five minutes or so to get through the turnstiles and security.

In february the ferry went straight to and from MK. The boatride only took around 5 -10 minutes. They had a different boat to go to Ft. Wilderness and the Contemporary.

Just clarifying......

WL and FW used to share boats to the MK.

They now have separate boats allowing both WL and FW faster access to and from the MK. Incidentally- boats start running an hour before parks open. You should have no problem making it in time! :wave:

The other important thing to remember about the boat ride to MK from WL.

Durning the morning hours it runs:

WL, MK, FW, WL, MK, FW

During the afternoon hours it runs:

MK, WL, FW, MK, WL, FW

It switches directions.

In the past (up until last year), the small boats had two runs going.

FW, CR, WL

WL, CR, FW

Last year they were all WL, FW, CR. We liked it better when both options were available.

The other important thing to remember about the boat ride to MK from WL.

There is also a bus from the WL to the MK too, its a very short ride, once you are on the bus.

The 2007 UG lists times between WL and MK as 26 min average, 41 min worst case, but the boat schedule has changed somewhat since then. This includes the walk to the turnstiles.

WL and FW have seperate boats/routes to and from the MK. It has been this way since December and was still this way when we were there last week. Makes the travel time much less to and from the MK more around 10 minutes. The only down side is that they only seem to use one large boat and two of the smaller jungle cruise style boats. Not a big deal unless you have a stroller or two like us, because they have to be collapsed on the smaller boats.

Also, normally the welcome ceremony on EMH mornings is abbreviated, and is before the EMH opening. I have heard that there are exceptions (including skipping it altogether), and it is not on the entertainment schedule, so it may change at the last minute.

This is exciting news! We never mind the boat ride, we actually look forward to it, but it will be nice in the afternoon when we go to MK not to have to stop at FW.
