Hey guys, how far is it to DLR from Vegas?

My bro and I are taking a trip to Vegas and depending on the distance I would like to try and fit a trip to DLR in.

Thanks

Dude....FLY!

You can be to Anaheim in 45 minutes or so by plane for very little cash.

America West (USAir now) used to have a flight at least every hour of every day from Vegas to Anaheim so you could pick some great times! I believe it was about $80 round trip....worth every penney! You'll have to check again, though, because that was last summer - BEFORE they were bought out by USAir.

We would fly out to Cali around 7AM on a Friday and fly back to Vegas at 5PM on Sunday -- 3 full days. Then we still had 4 full days to enjoy Vegas!

You'll have a MUCH better time if you arrive relaxed at both destinations!

Since I live in Vegas I have driven it a bunch of times and I will say avoid weekend travel like the plague, unless you leave early in the morning. Driving on Friday or Sunday can almost always assure you an extra 2-3 hours if you are going anytime after 11 am. In July it took us over 6 hours because of traffic near Baker, Barstow and Victorville.

Oh no! This is bad news for me as I am flying to Las Vegas and then driving to DL next week (then back to Vegas for a few days for a family reunion). When I checked on flying, it was cost prohibitive, so we rented a car for the trek. Oh well, I included a travel day to Anaheim, so all we have to do when we arrive is lay by the pool and check out DTD. Thanks for the heads-up anyway. Wish me luck!

Thanks for the replies. I decided originally that if it was gonna be more than 3 hours each way we would fly so now I know

JetBlue offers flights from John Wayne Airport to Las Vegas for around 40 bucks each way. I have flown to Vegas for the night several times on JetBlue, and the price can't be beat.

With the price of gas at $3.35 a gallon for the lowest grade self serve in Orange County now (had to fill up this morning), and up to $3.75 for higher octane gas, it's a wonder why anyone still drives. The flight from John Wayne to Vegas takes about 40 minutes, you get a cocktail and watch some TV on the seatback, the JetBlue stewardesses are actually nice and charming unlike most other airlines now, and you're walking in to your hotel room 90 minutes after you left Orange County.

The whole thing works in reverse for those coming from Vegas to get to Disneyland. John Wayne Airport is about a 20 minute drive to the Disneyland Hotel. Rent a car from Enterprise for 30 bucks, or just take a taxi for 20 bucks, and your on Space Mountain before the people driving from Vegas across the desert have even hit Barstow.

Unfortunately I am doing the drive from DL to Vegas on a Friday (which was something I was trying to avoid but couldnt) during my trip in June. If I leave Anaheim at say 9 in the AM, is the traffic still that bad or is it OK. I do have the flexablility to leave at any time.

There should be less traffic that early. The best we did when drving was a smidge under 4 hours, with no traffic and no stops. There is always an unavoidable slowdown at the agriculture station because even if it is closed you still have to drive through the booths.

I just did the Vegas to DL (and back) drive on April 23 and April 27. Traffic was heavy, but moved pretty well except around Barstow on the way to DL. It took us 4 1/2 hours on Sunday and 4 hours 20 min back to Vegas on Thurs.

I would have preferred to fly, but when I checked the airfare (during trip planning), the fares were in the $250 range. Since there were 2 of us, we rented the car for under $200 and prepaid the fuel at a rate of $2.78, so all told spent less than $250 for the two of us. Not having been in that part of the US before, we enjoyed the scenery while driving thru the Mojave desert and over the mtns.

Still - if I could have snagged a cheapie airfare, I would fly rather than drive.
