how long after fireworks to get back to resort

I would figure an hour or so. May be less, may be more, but unless you watch from down by the train station it will take a while to get to the bus stop, very possibly 10-20 minutes while waiting for buses, and then another 15 minutes to get to the resort.
You may luck out and get right on a bus, or you may end up having to wait much longer, but we usually end up getting back 45mins-1 hour after the big events let out.

If you want to be safe, plan for 1-2 hours. The big X factors will be your location and the size of the crowd. If you watch from the train station and bail a minute before the end you can make it to the buses pretty quickly. If you are in the hub and the park is crowded it can take a good 1/2 an hour before you will even be able to exit the park.

Was that just the motor coach wait time and trip time, or from when the fireworks ended? I had spent 1.5 just waiting for the motor coach and the trip as the All Star bus was shared!

Like others have said it depends on where you stand in the park and how big the crowd is. We stand close to the hub, but instead of trying to fight the tons of people walking down main street, we sneak into the stores and pass through that way, which usually only takes us a few minutes to get from one end to the other. Pop's bus stop is the farthest from the gate at MK, however, they usually are really good about having a ton of busses for that resort. Once when we were leaving there were 3 Pop busses at the station at one time and everyone that was standing in the line was able to get on. The fastest we've made it back was about 35 minutes from when we left our spot in MK, the longest was a little over an hour.

Highly suggest regardless what night you stay to see wishes, to linger around MK for like 45 minutes to an hour before even attempting to get on the bus back to POP. We were just there and the first night we saw wishes we made a bee line to POP's bus line right as wishes ended we were in line for an 1 and a 1/2 before we even got on the bus! Next evening we stayed for wishes we stayed in the park for a little while to let the crowd empty out. From exiting MK to arriving back a POP took less then an hour.
