How is the "Pop Century" comming along?

Very good question!
I too have been wondering - I've read so many things from so many people on how ugly and tacky it will be ...
I think Pop Century will be very kewl!

But seriously, I'm also very interested in Pop Century. Right now I have two favorite resorts, and I've never stayed in neither of them: AS-Movies and Wilderness Lodge. Both look very cool, but I know I'll be using AS more since it's more accessible. Now, from the pictures I've seen of PC, with that Lady and the Tramp section and that Mowgli section, I think I'll have a new favorite!!

They were putting "sod" or fake grass on the medians of the road(I forget the name, the road that Pop Century is on and goes into WWoS) yesterday........They had planted plants in the PC sign for the main entrance, but then removed them??? I guess they were testing how they would look?
They have what looks like 2 or 3 buildings 100% complete, but then there is this brown hollowed out building that looks no where near complete, blocking the completed buildings, so I think we won't see the opening for a while!!! Check back in 2004.......:lol:

Good IDEA! Why don't they make a hurracane themed resort? It would be the same Hurracane from Typhoon Lagoon and Pleasure Island.

I actually think it's a great concept. One of the great things about Disney is the memories... notice how a lot of Disney's theming revolves around family memories. The perfect example is the 25th Anniversary theme, "Remember the Magic." Pop Century encompasses just that. Maybe not all Disney related items, however, the Disney theme is present. For me, I grew up in a time of Rubix Cubes, Big Wheels, things of the 80s... and Pop Century brings back all those memories. It's a fun environment, and I truly believe that guests will enjoy thier surroundings.
Now, if you think that its an ugly design and tacky, and whatnot... then I have just one thing to say to you... Don't stay there! No one is forcing anyone to stay at Pop Century, nor are they forcing anyone to look at it. It's being completely surrounded by landscaping. Once everything grows in, just like the All-Stars, you won't be able to see it from the road.
However, I do have one more thing to add. The All-Stars had this same thing going on before they were built... and yet, look at how popular they are. People think that they are so popular because of the price... which is definetly a big factor... however, All-Star Movies typically has the higher room rate, and with less discounts... yet, it's always the busiest of them all. I'd be willing to guess people choose the Movies first because of the Theming.

Oh I don't plan to stay there. Just like I've never stayed at any of the All-Star Resorts. I'm not sying they're beneath me, I just prefer to stay somewhere else. To each his own I guess- I just think of Beach Club, Poly, Grand Floridian, Dixie Landings, and Coronado Springs as being the more Walt Disney World style that's all.

I'm sorry, I should've been more clear. I meant Walt Disney World Style- the resort, not just Disney. I dunno, I've grown up with the environment themed hotels. The all-encompassing resorts. When I see the All-Stars, they just look like normal hotel rooms, with Disney flair, no theme really- I mean Disney, Music, Sports, and stuff is their theme, but you know... Please don't think I'm trying to sound rude, I'm not, but do you understand where I'm coming from?

well I don;'t care for any of the value resorts at all!!! But there is a market out for this campy crap. But I have never, nor will never stay at one. But I have been spoiled by always staying at deluxe

For me, while I most certainly did NOT enjoy my stay at ASMusic, the pics I've seen of ASMovie's food court looks soooo kewl
As for the theming of Pop Century....the theming looks like something I would really appreciate. I can't wait to see it!! :sohappy:

Yeah, I love the AS Movies food court! I just got back from staying at Music and I think they just opened those really fast and didn't do the food court up really nice. I hope Pop Century has godd theming. I haven't seen many pics of it.

But there is just so much more to see on WDW property than just the parks !
Maybe you should take a moment away from the parks to discover the rest of the "World" sometime! :animwink:
