We are staying at WL for the first time in november. Tell me how great it is and that is worth the money !!:)

Its great & worth the money!

Really, this is our favorite resort (stayed there almost 10 times). It is just so relaxing and quiet...the archway when you drive up, the smell of smoke and the sounds of crickets and bullfrogs just seem to melt all the stress away. Its a very informal place and you can often find people playing games and taking naps on the big leather sofas. The kids will run thru the lobby, but its not distracting (because its so big) and the little brook that winds its way towards the pool...

Have morning or evening coffee/tea in one of the big rockers by the huge fireplace, join the craziness in the Whispering Canyon Cafe (best breakfast in town with those skillets, IMHO). Do the Hidden Mickey hunt in the lobby (hint sheets at the desk) and take the boat to the MK...such a great way to start the day. If you get the chance to head over to the MK at sunset the ride is especially beautiful. The small launch will take you over to the Contemporary to hit the monorail, eat or just visit.

My kids love the water slide and the pool, the lifeguards can often be found playing games with the kids there. The Roarin'Forks Cafe on the bottom floor (at the foot of the ramp) has great specials and snacks and Artist Point is very nice for a romantic dinner (we do see kids in there, but usually early in the evening).

You will have a great time so relax, enjoy and bring us back some pictures.

The Wilderness Lodge is by far my favorite resort! Hopefully you aren't paying toooooo much for it... but even at full price it is great. The pool is amazing, the ambiance of the lobby (which is gorgeous), the entire resort was designed and built so beautifully. You should take a boat over to the Campground one night for dinner at Trail's End Buffet and explore all the things they have to do there(campfire, horseback riding, petting zoo...). And take some time in the evenings to just go for a walk outside on the beautiful grounds. The only real downside is taking the buses to get to 3/4 parks(boat to MK). But other than that it is the best resort in my opinion.
-As a side not: it may be mine and other's favorite resort because after many trips to Disney World we have begun to take a more laid back approach to it, but who knows...I'm sure you will love it either way!:sohappy:

It is an awesome, awesome resort. It's tied with the Grand Florian for our favorite. The theming is exceptional and it is probably the most relaxing resort Disney has, in my opinion. You definately will not regret staying there and will probably consider it a "second home" like we do.

It is well worth the money and time spent at the resort. Take a few minutes/hours to just sit in the main lobby and people watch and listen to the music. (Much of which is the sound track to Last of the Mohicans).

Then take a stroll over to the DVC area and check out its lobby.

Its wonderful. Hopefully you are going in late November and maybe you will have a slight chance at a few Christmas decorations. Although I'm not sure when they start putting them up, its even more beautiful at that time of year. :xmas:

About a week or two before Thanksgiving is when the tree and other decorations went up when we stayed there for our honeymoone.

Also look for the family or armadillos that live between the villas and the lodge near the pools, you'll sometimes see them around dusk. Just make sure you don't get leprosy from them:animwink:

Hello Neighbor!!! (From South Jersey also, Turnersville area) Anyway, the WL is wonderful!! We stayed there twice. Definately worth the money. The rooms are cozy and clean. Never had a problem. The pool is nice and my kids loved the water slide. It is just a short boat ride away from the Magic Kingdom. Oh - you MUST try the Whispering Canyon Cafe - it is so much fun especially for kids and the food is good. I hope you have a Magical Trip!!

I'm finally convinced

I've been considering a stay at WL for some time now, but have still not tried it yet. We're huge AKL fans, and I have trouble imagining a place that's more of a departure from the everyday hotel experience, but you're all such big fans it must be really special. Are there 'grounds' to explore at night as there are with the Savannah paths at AKL? That's one of our favorite things to enjoy after a great meal @ Jiko, so I'm hoping for a parallel @ WL. At the very least, I think we'll head over for a tour on the next trip ...

We are also going to be staying for the first time on our next trip. Has anyone stayed in the DVC villas there?

All of this info is making me so excited!

We have stayed in the studio's in the villas. Pretty much the size of a room at the All Stars, but has a small kitchenette. The bus-stop is really close to the villas, so that is a plus. They have a really cool lounge area type room that is themed with (I think) some of Walt's actual model trains, or replicas of his favorite trains. There is a fireplace in the main lobby, pleanty of big comfy chairs and couches. The elevetor doors are beautiful (sculpted brass). The villas has its own pool and hot tub and work out area. It is a fairly good walk to the boat dock where you catch the launches to MK and other resorts.

Its a great place and well worth the stay.

We'll be at the WL the last week of November too!! This is making me so excited - and I have a quick question too. How quick of a walk is it between the Lodge and Ft. Wilderness? We are checking in the 25th, but will probably get there around lunch, so will need to kill some time until our room is ready. Checking out the petting zoo sounds like a great way to loosen up after that long car ride! :sohappy:

I would say at minimum 45 minutes. You can catch the resort launch from Wilderness Lodge to Ft Wilderness if you dont want to walk that far.

The trail is very nice. We had reservations at Whispering Canyon one night and didn't want to go to MK. We ended up walking to Ft. Wilderness and resort-launching it back. It was a really nice time.

Was I close on the time estimate?

Also, there are two seperate launches from WL/FW. The larger boats go direct to MK. The smaller boats go from WL to FW to the Contemporary and back to WL. I spend a few hours a trip just riding the water transportation, especially if its a little cool and damp outside. Nothing like a boat ride in winter weather. I finished up a book the last time while my wife took a nap. The captain never even said anything about it. Guess they get that fairly often.
