Dave told me about another add on (Nightly Tester Tools) that will get past extensions working again even if it is not officially compatible:

Spellbound will mostly work again - it just stops scrolling after the first spelling is corrected, so you either have to look ahead before making corrections, or just spell check selected chunks.
Doesn't work for me either. :(

Assuming Spellbound is still installed:
Have you installed "Nightly Tester Tools" then gone to Tools > Extensions where you should now find a button "Make All Compatible". Click this button and you will find that Spellbound starts working again.

I installed it and it shows up when I right click, but it doesn't actually find errors. Spell checked a sentence with two obvious mistakes "appeers" instead of "appears" and "instaled" instead of "installed" and it said "no mispelled words".

I've downloaded it twice and it still doesn't show up. *Shrugs*

I'm pretty good at spelling anyway, and just use it to double check a few words here & there. I'll stick to dictionary.com for now.

Double-Check that the US Dictionary is selected in the bottom right hand corner. It defaulted to "Download More" for me, which was causing it to not check words. As soon as I selected "UK English" and "Recheck Page", it worked a treat

Spellbound is not installed cause it is incompatible with my version of firefox.

When the XPI installer box appears (with the countdown on the button, make sure the Make Compatible Tick Box is checked)

Ok I click on the link for the development version of spellbound and all I get is a blank page and it says done in the bottom left hand side.

Right-Click SpellBound Link
"Save Link As..." (Save it to your Desktop)
Drag "spellbound-dev_20060108.xpi" onto your firefox window
Wait a few seconds, and the install dialogue will appear

Oh sure! I have to read stuff and pay attention to settings?!?!?

Thanks, that was exactly the trick. Now to find a better dictionary [U.S, English just doesn't cut it  - Oh, good, there's a Canadian dictionary]

Did you shutdown all Firefox Browser windows? Is it in the Extensions Panel?

There isn't an "icon" that says spellbound. If you're in a text entry window, right click. The menu that comes up will have an colourful icon that has "abc" and a check-mark and says "Check Spelling", that your spellbound program.
