How far in advance can one make a Villa reservation?

Been a long time lurker and have learned a ton, wdwmagic forums are indispensable. Thanks to everyone.

As I understand it, resort reservations can be made 499 days in advance. But does this apply to Villa reservations as well (would seem odd if a reservation could be made before the window opened for a DVC owner)? No luck with searching for this.

The only rooms that might be available prior to the 11 month window are those that aren't declared into the DVC inventory, but even that is doubtful. Nothing else will open until well after the owners have a crack at reserving them. In addition, if members that own at a resort use their points for a cruise or to trade out to RCI, Disney will release some rooms to normal reservations to cover the cost, but it is entirely possible that they will only be available for a short time, and there is no way of knowing when they will release those for regular reservations.

So I had time to contact Disney reservations this morning. The answer is 6 months in advance.

If the booking window is important, you may do well to look at renting points from an owner. You save money over the listed rack rate, and the owner can book 11 months if they own there, or 7 months at any DVC property. Just a thought. This is especially important for any busy season or high demand room types. (IE BCV during F&W or AKV Club Level)

Thanks so much, that option is certainly under consideration. Am planning ahead for February 2017. May go ahead and reserve something directly with Disney and then see what is available from one of the DVC rental sites.
