How does the free Dining plan work?

Question for anyone who has had the free dining plan. We are staying at CBR now on Oct. 22 to the 31st since my wife would rather hit the MNSSHP.

Now we see we get free dining plan from the 22nd to the 28th but what happens on the 29th-31st days? Do you pay the reminder for the 3 days or do you not qualify because your still there after the 28th?

I try to see how much I save by going to Disney Vac. package site but I'm always charged for dining even for Sept. when the whole month is suppose to be free. Is there a code or something? Or do you have to call in for it?

Thanks

I'd suggest you call Disney about your travel plans, or one of the forum members who work for Kingdom Konsultants; they don't charge you for their services, they get paid a commission from Disney.

My assumption, which may be wrong, would be that you're better off breaking your trip into two parts - one part in the time frame where free dining applies, and the second part after free dining expires. In fact, there are discounted codes for room-only packages during your stay. Don't get me wrong, free dining is probably a better value for you, for the days it's available to you. But if you split your trip up into two parts, then you may be able to get the discounted rate for the days free dining is no longer available and that will save you more money.

Disney will warn you that by splitting up your trip, there is a risk you'll be asked to move to a different room at the same resort when one reservation ends and the next one begins. While I don't doubt it could happen, it's never happened in any of the times I've split up my trips (unless of course I was splitting my trips between two resorts)

Double check on this but here's how it has worked for us in the past.

As long as you check in 1 day before the free dining plan ends, you get the free dining plan for your entire stay. We did it a few years ago, checking in the last possible day and extending our stay through some of the Food & Wine festival. As long as you check in during free dining, you are set for your entire stay.

Just to double check though, call the reservations line and they should be able to verify that.

yep, we're going next sept. 29th - 10th and the free dining ends on the 29th but we still have it for the entire trip. if you do a mach booking on the disney site you have to click on specials first and then click on the free dining where it says check availability and it will show you the cost of your trip with free dining.

We got free quick service (staying at Value res.) with our trip that only has the 1st night of a 4 night stay listed in the eligible dates. Then we upgraded to regular dining for and extra $20 per day (2 people). Just clicked the specials icon then free dining.
