How Does Late Night Extra Magic Hours Work?

How does late night extra magic hours work? Do I need to bring along something for each family member that's staying in the room with me?

I'm trying to figure out how many extra "cards" I'll need to carry in my wallet. I already have tickets. I'm trying to understand if I'll need to "double up" and carry a second card for everyone that's in the room. Or do I simply need one room key?

Thanks!

yep... room keys are the one and only way. it's how they tell whose staying in their hotels and who isn't. remember only people staying in a disney hotel get the extra hours. i was there in mid april and saw one very upset family who didn't have all theirs with them and were not allowed on the ride. it's a lot easier with the room keys than it was when they used to make you go to predetermined places and pick up arm bands.

...or have them put your tickets on your room key, if that's an option for you.

What was wrong with the wrist band system? Anyone know why they changed it?

Probably a cost-cutting measure. Although the bands wouldn't cost a lot, their cost plus staff to man the various wrist-band distribution spots inside and outside the parks would be a significant savings over the course of a year.

It usually makes it the most crowded park for the day. And my experience has been that the "after-hours" time quite crowded also. I usually avoid the park holding evening EMH.

The one time I did EMH at MK, the park was crazy-crowded for the first 45 minutes to an hour and then it was great! SM was walk-on the rest of the night.

I don't bother with EMH any more just because I'm too old to stay in the parks that long! :lookaroun

yes, i cant underscore enough to have guest services put your park tickets on your room keys (i think its guest services. i did it at MK one year when we piecemealed a trip).

gives you less to lose. and the room keys are plastic cards. i always have panic attacks that there will be a small fire somewhere and only my tickets would burn leaving me screaming at the park gates. i know, im an idiot. i have always found emh to be a good thing overall but i go during down season anyway. nothing like wearing a cozy sweatshirt and exploring the treehouse all by yourself in the night. wasnt a soul in sight til i was climbing down. i'll never forget it.

I know it's done at the front desk/lobby concierge. Not sure whether the park Guest Services can do it or not.

The only excptions are that they cannot put Florida Resident or any kind of Annual/Seasonal passes on room keys.
