How does EMH work with late hours?

I see in my planning info that I got from Disney, it says the parks sometimes stay open later for resort guests but how does that work? Do they check everyone to see if they are a resort guest? Am I misunderstanding this? LOL

If you stay onsite, and attend evening EMH, when you go to enter a ride, you will be asked to touch your magic band to the touchpoint. As long as you are an onsite guest, it should turn green and you can get on the rides. If you are offsite, you can still wander around the parks, but you are unable to get on any rides as touching your band to the touchpoint will result in the you being shown as an offsite guest. You will then be informed by the CM's (more than likely) that the EMH's are for guests only and they may possibly try to direct you out of the park (I'm sure some have, others will just say you can't ride rides... anyone with experience with this, please chime in!).

Thanks! We were wondering how that worked! We will be in a resort and taking advantage of all EMH. We don't at Disneyland since we are in CA and have been several times but have never been to WDW so we want to see it all as much as we can as it won't happen often(unfortunately) LOL

Disney posts the EMH's and which parks are scheduled so you can make your plans ahead of time to take advantage of them. I prefer the evening ones because the parks seem to empty out quickly as the evening goes on and I get to do more.... but the early openings are good too because you do get to do a lot before the crowds begin to flow in. You definitely get more opportunities if you take advantage of the extra time available to you as a resort guest.
