How does Easter fall in relation to Spring Break?

We're planning for April of 2008. We'd like to avoid spring breakers and the week of Easter. It's been a long time since I've been in school and I dont' remember how spring break works...Do spring break and Easter go hand in hand or do school's let out for spring break before Easter?

Easter next year is early...March 23 so will spring break be early next year??

Every district is different and the timing of spring break seems to be a regional thing.

Our spring breaks are always the week that contains St. Patrick's Day (March 17) regardless of when Easter is.

We generally start school in mid-August and are out around Memorial Day. The break in mid-March hits just as 3rd quarter ends and makes things nice and tidy.

In other areas where school doesn't start until after Labor Day and goes to mid-June, breaks may be on a different time table.

Edit: Another good way to guess at the crowd levels is to check the hotel prices. It is no coincidence that peak season is mid-Feb to April which hits most everyone's spring break week.

I have to agree, all districts are different (even within states).

My eldest (in college) had her break the beginning of this month and my youngest (in 7th grade) has hers next week and returns the Tuesday after Easter.

We have had them both before and after Easter and have been in WDW at both times, we found that the Monday after Easter the place clears out a bit, but the week before is quite busy. We were there earlier this month and it wasn't too bad at all, most rides had short wait times - except the newest ones and Peter Pan. many we just walked right on.

In our area (RI) the public schools have spring break usually the 3rd week of April, regardless of when Easter falls. The colleges are different however, and it seems that most of the have Spring break within the first 2 or 3 weeks of March.
