how do you plan your WDW vacation?

Me? Normally I have a good guide book such as "Birnbaum's Guide to Walt Disney World" or "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World" to help me out. Then. I map out a plan. I type up all of the attractions that I want to see and do during my WDW vacation. It works like a charm. What do you do?:king:

We usually just wing it. We have planned it out in the past, but never seemed to be able to stick to the plan, so we figured why plan at all. We used to plan around EE and E-ride nights back when they existed, but not really much of a concern now.

The past two years I have gone with the same set of friends, and we basically decided when we could all go, and how we we getting there...the first year we drove and last year, we flew up.

One of my friends works at a hotel here in New Orleans, so he makes arrangements with a sister hotel in Orlando, usually gets a bargain for suite, with two bedrooms and sofa bed, etc.

We actually have a "meeting" or two, to plan out our daily itinerary. I loved sending Disney e-mailcards to my friends every two weeks or so, counting down the days until our trip... :)

We plan what park on what day, and sometimes book a couple PS early. But otherwise we just play it by ear.

I think it is more fun that way, than knowing every single step of your vacation. There have to be a couple of surprises involved.

Step 1) Buy latest copy of Unofficial Guide to WDW. Read cover to cover.

Step 2) Figure out when to go and make reservations.

Step 3) Plan itinerary for trip.

Step 4) Go to WDW.

Step 5) Completely ignore itinerary and do whatever we want!:D

I thought I was the only one who bought a guidebook to read every year just to increase my anticipation level!

If I'm planning a trip for the whole family, I map out a general plan to visit certain parks on certain days, weather permitting, along with a backup plan for monsoons, etc. We always include a day trip or two to Cocoa Beach or Daytona Beach, and a day to just hang out at the resort and enjoy the pool, etc.

If I'm going alone, though, I just head for the resort bus stop in the morning and take the first bus that comes along, no matter what park it's for! It's a whole lot easier to be spontaneous when you're not planning what amounts to the invasion of Normandy...
