how do you make gifs

I assume you are referring to animated GIFs...

You need a GIF editing program

examples would be, say,

Adobe ImageReady (it comes with Photoshop)

Microsoft GIF Animator (FREE!)

What you do is, one you download/install one of these kinds of programs, you can insert frames into your animation... These frames consist of one, well, frame of the animation you want to make. So, you string all these frames together (and in the case of ImageReady you can add "tweens" and other effects to simplify the process) and ascertain a specific time value (say 0.1 seconds) for each frame then you save it and it's an animated GIF! :)

MS Gif Animator is free, full, no limitations... It has a simple interface (a REALLY simple interface... it uses drag-and-drop methods..)

Get it HERE :)

Practice?

Its a pretty straight forward program. If anyone here is bored and wants to do a step by step tutorial i'll make the thread sticky.

First, make sure you have your string of images ready and saved (say, if you made them in MS-Paint).

Put them all in a folder and minimize the size of the folder so it takes up, say, half of your screen.

No, open up GIF Animator. Press the little button at the top that is a fresh white sheet of paper (it says "New")...

Right?

Now, you can see two things on your screen: GIF Animator and your reduced-size folder with your GIFs in it.

Drag each GIF image from the folder onto the little slides that popped up when you pressed "New" in GIF Animator. Drag them all until you have all GIFs that you want to be a part of the animation. You can close out of your folder, then assign time values by clicking "select all" in GIF Animator, going to the "Image" tab and changing the duration. Then save it.

I've tried to explain it as simply as I can... Maybe NowInc can help you more if you are still having problems... :)
