OK all of you creative people, how do you count down the days til your trip to WDW? I am trying to come up with a creative way for the kids to count down the days til we leave for WDW. The kids know we are all going, they just don't know when, I think about 1 month before we could start some count down. I have already got all 6 kids the glow in the dark lanyards (free from Kelloggs) but they don't know about those . Also have bought lots of pins last year at the Disney store for about 45 cents each (they dont know about those either)! so those are things that could be incorporated into this. So please help and give me some great ideas!

Maybe the kids could make one of those paper chains. Have them write the days left on them and tear one off everynight before bed. Make them in 2 different colors. Say blue and red. The blue ones just have the # of days written on them, but the red ones mean there is a present with it. Then you could wrap up the pins and give them out on the red days. I would save the lanyards for the night before, which my kids call "Disney Eve" only because then I'd only have one night to explain why you can't sleep with something around your neck to the littlest ones!

well thanks for the great idea! I was wracking my brain trying to come up with something that all ages would understand (littlest is 3). So this is perfect and red & blue are great colors (our favorite teams are Cardinals (red) & Blues (blue)~ so that was perfect!

1) We bought some extra Christmas chocolate calendars for the kids and we start opening the little doors each day counting backwards from 24 days.
2) We'll also watch the Disney planning DVD/video about two weeks in advance.
3) We picked up a Kids Disney World Planning Guide book a few weeks ago from the local library and the kids take turns reading a few pages each night

I would be careful to not have the kiddies peak too early though with alot of pre-Disney hype.

How are those Disney / Kelloggs Lanyards. We are getting ready to send off for a pair. Another question, don't you get a lanyard or something as part of the "Dreammaker Package"?

Kelloggs lanyards??? How do you get these? Cereal boxes or something?

Yes, can can chose two pins and lanyards as part of your Dreamer package instead of other options like $25 GC at Planet Hollywood, family minigolf, or Leave a Legacy photo (?).

Please let me know about the Kelloggs lanyards and pins.
thanks

I have mastered this art:

I have mastered the art of counting days. Yes it is an art.

Here's how you do it:

You segementalize it: Yes I made up a word! Segmentalize!

You break it into segments. Let's say it's four weeks until you leave. So you say:

Ok, in two weeks it will only bet two weeks. So battle through these two weeks and just suck it up. To help yourself out, do some disney planning. Then realize when it gets to two weeks left we're basically there. Then say, ok, at the end of this week is just one more week and then it's here! So then at the end of that week say, Wow only one more week and then this week will go by fast because there's so much to do before we go!

Ok, im done, Im going back to the mental ward now. byee byeee sugar pie!!!!! :hammer:

On "Specially Marked Boxes" of Kelloggs cereal is an offer to get a glow in the dark lanyard and even a couple of Disney / Kelloggs pins. I think it is two proofs of purchase and a nominal charge.

ANyone else have some better info?

Yeah I can't tell you how many bowls of cereal and how many batches of rice krispie treats I've made over the last 6 months. But for $3 a lanyard for the kids, well it was worth it and we eat the cereal anyway. I have met my limit of 3 and then gave the forms and upc's to my sister and had her order her 3. so each of the 6 kids will have their own lanyards. I am out of the forms, but I have lots of the upc's if anyone wants them. The lanyards are blue and have mickey heads and then the WDW symbols on the lanyards between the mickey heads...symbols like the tree of life, epcot, the hat from mgm, and the castle from MK. Those symbols and the mickey heads are what "glow in the dark" although I don't think they glow for more than an hour or two. The mickey clip comes off and you could use it for a key chain if you wanted to.

I thought one of the boxes said something about Disney/Kelloggs Pins. Are there any such things available at WDW. It looked like they were in EPCOT?

Maybe you don't send in for the pins, but they are available at WDW?

I sent in for the pins, they were free, no shipping charges where as with the lanyard I had to pay $2.99 per lanyard, limit of 3 per house plus the upc's from the cereal boxes. With the pins, you didn't send in upc's you sent in a form that was printed on the side of the cereal boxes, most of mine came from the large boxes of regular rice krispies cereal. but I believe they were on a variety of the kellogg's brand cereal. i don't have a scanner or a digital camera so I can't send you an image of the pin.

It's not something that will keep them busy for any length of time, but I have a fondness for DisneyTime . It tells you the days, hours, minutes and seconds until your trip. It also tells you the total hours, total minutes and total seconds until your trip. It's kinda fun. In addition, it has a trivia bar that gives you little facts and trivia questions that change every thirty seconds or so.

Whatever the case, have an excellent trip!

Just a little FYI. You get 2 lanyards and 2 pins per room. The miniature golf, $25 for a meal at Planet Hollywood, etc. are the extras that you get to pick one of.
