How Do I Pack To Fly!?

If you travel with any frequency, I also suggest investing in some packing cubes to use in your checked or carryon luggage (zippable, mesh fabric bags available from many different sellers -- just google "packing cubes"). They not only help you organize your bag (and simplify unpacking), but if your bag gets inspected, nobody will be rummaging through your clothes. The packing cubes typically have see-through mesh tops, so they don't have to be unzipped or unpacked to be inspected -- the security person can simply look inside, give it a squeeze, and put it back. This reduces your risk of arriving with a bag full of wrinkled clothes, and/or having items lost or stolen.

Hey everyone! I am going to fly on my next trip for the first time and have no idea how to pack or what exactly to pack in my luggage. I am planning on going Southwest. I have read all different kinds of FAQ's and other related things to see what the guidelines, restrictions, weight limits, etc., are. I think I am just getting paranoid that they won't let me take something with me on the plane or something stupid like that. I plan to take my camera with lenses and tripod and my laptop. But I want to take some extra clothes and a few necessities(shampoo, soap, deodorant..) in my carry on along with my electronics. Would a camera bag be considered a personal item? And could I put my laptop into my carry on bag with my clothes? This all has me really confused, but then again, it is not hard to confuse me:p Any help or advice would be appreciated! Thanks!:D

Leave the soap/shampoo/deodorant at home buy it when you get there or put in checked luggage, the tripod will need to go checked as well, TSA classifies them as a 'club' Cameras and Lenses always take as carry on as they WILL be stolen from checked baggage and insurance will not cover them.
