How difficult are split-stays?

We are booked for 8 nights club level at the Yacht Club. I was thinking of changing the last 2 nights to theme park view at the Polynesian. Surprise trip for my daughters, and they've never stayed at the Yacht Club. We always stay at the Poly, so my question is how difficult is it to switch resorts? Do you just check bags at bell services and they deliver them to the room at the Poly? I just don't want to waste precious vacation time to switch resorts. Also the last 2 days we will be spending the majority of our time in the MK, plus dining reservations are all at the monorail resorts. Thank you for any help or suggestions!

Just be aware that you will be without a room for hours on the day of the switch.

Otherwise, bell services handles the switch seamlessly 99% of the time.

Done it before and would do it again. No issues, the move happens when your at the parks anyway and all you have to do is show up at your new resort in the PM and get your new key. We split WL and GF a few years back. great way to get the experience of two resorts in one trip.

Me and my husband always stay the first couple nights at a resort we never have stayed at and then switch to our original fav AKL. When we switch its easy and simple. We pack up and drive right over. The only thing is that it's just me and my husband. Not a whole family like you have, so i can see it being a little harder. also we live north FL so we just drive down, we dont have flight scheduling or any type of baggage checkin. If I were you I would do it. Its a cool thing to experience WDW alittle different being my Hollywood Studios part of the time and then to go over and be on the lake, the monorail, and at MK. Have fun and good luck!

DisneyJoe is 100% correct .... there is no guarantee that your room will be available when you check out of the Yacht Club, however, your luggage will be waiting, and you can enjoy the day at the Poly pool, if you so desire, if your room is not ready, or enjoy one of the parks. Since you will be at MK anyway, you're a hop, skip and a boat ride or monorail ride away from MK.

Splits work just fine, no worries. And you are doing it the best way -- Epcot resort and a monorail resort. Best of both worlds. When you check out of YC and leave your luggage at Bell Services, just remember to pack any necessities in your bag/backpack that you carry in the park. That way, you can check out and then have a normal park day, then just head over to Poly and it should be easy checking in and getting in your new room.

Whenever we travel, we typically split our stays between 2 DVC resorts (given that we're DVCers). The switch really isn't all that difficult. The only really bothersome thing is having to pack up twice (one for the resort move & one for going home).

On our "resort move day," we leave our luggage & goodie bags (EVERYTHING gets tagged & marked) with Bell Services at the first resort. They will give you a receipt with the total number of items you're storing. Your items should arrive 3-5 hours later at your new resort, which should coincide with check-in (4 p.m. for DVC resorts & 3 p.m. for the others). We typically drop our items off by 8 a.m., check-in around 2 p.m., with fingers crossed that our room is ready.

In between time, we hit up a park. If our room still isn't ready, we hang at the resort and get something to eat (usually no more than an hour).

Once in the room, we call up Bell Services and get our items delivered. You will need the receipt the other resort gave you. We've only had 1 item missing, but was eventually found. My tip: try to consolidate, as though you were packing for the trip home (the less bags, the better).

Tipping is at your discretion, and always appreciated.

*Poly is our favorite resort, hands down!!

We're doing the same thing...but in reverse. And a bit different in that we are staying at the Swan for the first two nights and the BCV for the remaining 6 nights. The BCV was not available for the first two nights of our trip. We are on wait list(actually wanted BWV and are having the same problem...on wait list for the full 8 nights there).
Can I assume that the Swan will NOT transfer bags to BCV since they are not a Disney resort?
