How can I become a really part-time part-time cast member?

Does anyone know how to get a job at one of the parks for only a month or two at a time? I'm a teacher, but would love to work at Disney World for the two months out of the year when my school is closed. My only problem is that I'm in NJ and our school year runs from Sept till mid June.

I would also like to have a recurring job every year at that same time.

Is there any way to do something like this?

Talking completely out of my league here; but I believe if you go "casual temporary," you can basically work just a few days a year.

I've heard that also. Supposedly you can get a free annual pass by only working 1 day per year (heard that from a cast member last year).

Thanks for the phone number! Is there a way to get a live person if you call there? I usually can only get recordings to press 1 (or another number) and I'm never able to speak to a live person.

What you are looking for is a "Seasonal," or role. Generally, you will have to be fully available for the first 4-6 weeks of employment, for classes and on-the-job training. After that, the standard requirement is that you work a minimum of one week (not day, as mentioned in a previous post) each year to maintain your status with the company. The requirements may vary slightly from department to department. Merchandise would probably be the easiest role to get in this manner, closely followed by Food & Beverage and then Attractions or Entertainment. Good luck!

THANK YOU for asking this! I'm in the same boat (only in MI) and have often dreamed of doing the same thing...I never would've thought it'd be possible, but now I've got hope. :sohappy:

I want to to the same thing as beach club but im even further, NY. I would be interested in becoming a seasonal empolyee, but my question is this. I dont know anyone or have any family in Orlando so i would most likely get a cheap hotel room for the week, How can people go down and work and actually leave with money? after gas/food/hotel, or will disney help with these things? Do alot of people go seasonal just for the benefits and free park tickets?

just a few clarifications- i'm seasonal right now, and you don't get a free annual pass. There's basically two classifications of seasonal. I'm not positive of the two names but I think it's CT-Frequent and CT-Infrequent. I'm classified as infrequent, because I'll maybe go up this summer, then again in august etc. But there are people who are seasonal who work every saturday, or people who are Equity that go from contract to contract. These people are the frequent seasonals, and they get the red ID. This red ID will get you into the parks and I'm sure a blue pass comes with it. For people like me though, I just get a new white ID everytime I go up there. That white ID will be valid for about a month or sometimes two months, so during that time span I could use it to get into the parks.... Hopefully that makes sense?! haha And you don't have to work a full week, only one shift every year. (unless other departments do it differently- but for entertainment it's only one shift.)

to the OP though you should definitely be able to work something out for that situation! I don't know how they would classify you- I would imagine as infrequent, but if you tell them you are planning on doing it for those two months every year, then I could see them throwing you in frequent. and that way, you would get your ID that you could use year round

I am also a teacher and want to work at the world this summer as well. I live about 90 miles from Disney, but I can stay with family that lives really close. It has always been my dream, and if I like it enough, maybe I can make it permanent! My only decision is what role to try for? I love everything at Disney World. I am racking my brain with what might be the most interesing role for me. I wish there was a quiz to take that would spit out the perfect role for you! Maybe I should just leave it up to fate!

I should tell my cousin to work at WDW part time. She lives in the Tampa area (they can get to WDW really fast though believe me) and is an RN but she hates nursing and hasn't even looked for a nursing job since they moved to Florida (her husband is a nurse anesthetist so they're set financially). If Disney has positions for nurses but only doing stuff like the first aid center, she'd probably be interested in that too. She just hates the hospitals and whatnot. She has a BS in nursing if that matters (my mom has an AS in nursing and while they all take the same board exams and are all RNs, nurses with a BS get better job offers, like to be a school nurse you have to have a BS).
