How 'Bout Moving Zootopia into Toontown?

I know this is premature, but IF Zootopia's as fun as it looks from previews and IF it strikes a chord with the public and makes a fortune...Then I'd really love to see Zootopia take over Toontown's space. As much as I love Who Framed Roger Rabbit, I wouldn't mind seeing Car Toon Spin adapted into a ZPD Cop Car Chase attraction... With the queue taking you through the DMV and the Police Dept.

Toon Town has been awesome, but its time has come and gone. I think a change like this could really make that area a destination for all ages again.

But that's the problem with MK they were constantly taking out the charming factors that have been there forever. Toontown is great, maybe they should just add a zootopia ride...

Better yet put Zootopia with a dark ride in Animal Kingdom as a replacement for Rafiki's Planet Watch. It could be their version of Toon Town.

NO lol, I love seeing the goats and taking the little train over. But I will agree that Animal Kingdom could use another ride.

@Endor Sightseer: I am ABSOLUTELY jumping the gun and geeking out over a new movie. I made sure to start my post with "Premature." :) In all seriousness, though, (IF Zootopia's a sequel-spawning hit) it'd be a good fit: one fantasy downtown replacing another, and this time with more natural landscaping for shade and better food (but NO beef in Zootopia!) and no tots-only areas.

WFRR is a great film, but Toontown's become skippable for many DL fans. Again, this is premature and applies only if Zootopia has staying power. Oh, yes, I'm geeking out over the first non-Pixar non-princess non-musical Disney CGI animated film that actually looks like it could be awesome...

Just for the record, I'm an old lifelong DL fan who dislikes big changes, is mourning the river shortening, and wishes Tarzan would get the heck out of the treehouse. I used to love Toontown to bits; I just don't think it's aged very well.

Why should unrelated metrics of success dictate storytelling in a completely different medium? The question should not be about how well the movie sells but whether or not its world presents a strong possibility for experiential entertainment.

Agreed. I do think Zootopia's world has the potential to become an amazing park experience. In a perfect world, the movie & merchandise profits shouldn't dictate whether or not a good park project goes forward... but this is Iger's Disney we're talking about, and in his world film money talks.

No, no, no. I'm sick of every attraction at DL now being based on a film.
But, this would just be one film-based attraction replacing another. I agree it'd be GREAT to see non-film attractions built, but Iger has pretty much stated that he won't risk millions of dollars building attractions unless they're based on proven, popular I.P.s going forward. It's now up to the Imagineers to take those I.P.s and do something amazing with them, instead of coming up with great original concepts like Mystic Manor.

Nope, Mickey Mouse needs a home and Roger Rabbit needs a ride. I can't accept your armchair imagineering offer. It just needs a refurb/expansion and then it'll convert those who don't care for it. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin is popular with fans regardless of whether or not they spend time in the land as a whole.

Roger goes to Hollywoodland.... Mickey bulldozes Pixie Hollow... I mean, yeah, his house would look weird there, but Fantasy Faire's already screwed up the hub.

PLAN B: Zootopia in the Fantasia Gardens Fiasco Zone. I want my ZPD ride! 'Course..if the film's not a hit, I'm going to deny typing any of this...

There is no guarantee this movie will even be a hit. Seems like there are so many computer animated stories about cute animals going on a big adventure. How do we know this one has what it takes to stand out as a classic?
Fingers crossed. This is Disney's animation's version of a Cop Movie, something they've never attempted before. I like the art direction, character designs, and the fact that they're actually addressing issues that would arise in an alternate world like that (not just dealing with racial issues, but *species*-bias issues). It looks like a lot of fun, and early word from the critics and overseas viewers seem good. I agree, though, whether or not it can cross the border to "classic" and "deserves-a-ride" status remains to be seen.

It looks like it might be great, but lets hope its doesnt get political or have too many pop culture references.

Still like Toontown more personally. I don't think Fantasy Faire isn't too dominant of a feature to disturb the hub. Now Astro Orbitor on the other hand...
