I'm waiting for the wifes vacation to get approved and i'm booking.
We are sooo excited to make it to the 24 hours.
We plan to be the part of the crazy ones that stay a full 24 hours.

Personally, I think this is a dumb gimmick. At the wee-hours of the morning, you're going to see some psychos out in the park, but I can't imagine the MK being packed with die-hards at 5am.

Also, a great deal of these specific day events require people to plan ahead.....a great deal. I booked my 40th anniversary (the MK, not me) trip for this past october, last november (in 2010). They announced this all-day event 2 months ahead of the actual day. Not many people are going to look at this and go "woah, we gotta book a vacation for that day..."

So really, it appears that Disney is pandering to the locals and the real psychos....nothing else.

It saddens me that this years 'promotion' is centered around this stupid stunt, and nothing else more. How far we've fallen from the year of a million dreams....

Let's get this clear, wanting to spend 24 hours in Magic Kingdom makes you a psycho.
Spending multiple hours on a Disney chat board talking about everything from light bulbs to speculation about expansions at Walt Disney World is normal?
I'd say everyone on this board fits the label of psycho then!
Trip booked for Feb 29.

I actually just booked this so I could be there. Roundtrip flight was $250, and we got POP Century for $100 a night. My friends Mom works for Disney and that is not a block day for them. I couldn't pass up the deal!

I plan on getting to Magic Kingdom (the turnstyles) at 5:30am, then staying until about 11am, going home, sleep, and be back around 5pm, and then stay until 6am.

I wish they had run this from midnight (or 12:01AM) on the 29th until midnight (or 11:59pm) at the end of the 29th. Then it really would have been a Leap Year Day event. The way they are doing it though, the overnight segment which is what really makes the event unique is all early morning on the 1st.

I agree. It would have been more true to the Leap Year effect if they had closed at a regular time (say 9pm) on Feb 28 and then opened at 12:00am on February 29 and closed at 11:59PM that same day.

Yes, 4 a.m. will feel vastly different from 3 a.m.

And I expect there will be a special version of the MSEP with special characters around 5 a.m.

You should definitely spend the money to fly down to experience it.

Any truth to a special version of MSEP? Would be awesome if they changed the music back to the original! Or if they mixed in Spectro floats! This COULD be pretty awesome!

I'm thinking of flying in early on the 29th, heading to Magic Kingdom by the afternoon, staying until 6am and then flying out the next morning. Either that or the 28th and trying the full 24 hours.

Any solo travelers want to split a hotel room?
