How badly Leave a Legacy failed!

I'm sorry to hear they stopped selling. My sister and I wanted to get one with our parent's pictures. They have been taking us to Disney since the late 60's, starting at DL, obviously. They are taking us and the grandkids this year. But I agree they need to be moved. Not demolished or taken away. Moved. I do have my brick though! :p

If SSE were an organic SSE, maybe that's what SSE droppings would look like.

:D
:ROFLOL:

Anyway, I think that there are quite a few people here taking opinions (their own AND each others) a little too seriously...er,ahem, IMHO :drevil:

of course it would be YOU to point out something that YOU think is a failure.....

Most projects never expect 100% of sales.....hotels are not built to always be 100% occupied, theme parks are not built to always be at 100% capacity....

Not expecting someone like you to understand this....but whatever

But comparing hotels and theme parks to a product like Leave a Legacy is like comparing apples to basketballs, isn't it? I don't have any doubt in my mind that Disney intended to sell through that 750,000. I mean, why even build enough stones to hold that amount if they didn't intend on filling them?

They where a great idea

But instead of trying to find them a new place in the park. Did anyone think of spreading them around the park.
I actualy regret not buying one so that when I visit with my daughters kids down the road she could see us at WDW back when.

They could go anywhere

Depends on your/Merfs definition of fact and reasoning. Just looked like an opinion to me, an opinion that stressess that there is one orthodoxy at WDW.

Personaly Id like to be given the choice to make up my own mind rather than be presented with one fans opinion.

He's inferring something from the information he's gathered that I agree isn't empirically proven. I also agree that "complete and utter failure" is likely too strong a phrase to describe it without any further information, but I think people are drawing a long bow when they say he's making personal attacks on everyone who put a tile there and attacking him in return for complaining about the monuments. He's presented an argument that people can agree with or not, but people seem to be getting personally offended and attacking him personally in return.

If you were being attacked for saying you liked them and for generally posting positive opinions on the board that would be a reasonable analogy to how it appears to me this thread has developed.

Why do you think people are sensitive to critcism of Disney when they just have a different opinion than the one you might have.
Just remember Merf isn't the only one here that loves Epcot, nor is he the only one with strong opinions, and strong feelings about the direction Epcot should be taking.

Well people seem mightily annoyed that he complains about things even though he does also post photo updates and positive information rather than simply trolling.

I think it's just the complaining in general that is getting to people. For 7 years we had non-stop wand bashing so they finally decide to remove it. Can the complainers at least wait till the demo is complete, nope, they move on to the next item. It is just proof that there are numerous people that will never be happy and must constantly complain about things.

I like the Leave a Legacy stones and hope they stay. My mother-in-law "forced" my father-in-law to have one done with her 5 years ago and he passed away a year later. She trully looks forward to seeing their tile there each time she goes and thinking back on all of the great memories.

Unfortunately, I much as some people would like to think so, I don't believe that the wand removal has ANYTHING to do with the wand bashing threads here or anywhere else.

I don't think it does either, however the people who have been complaining about the wand non-stop think it was their doing.

Guess it makes them feel all good inside

Ok, I'm not going to read 16 pages of replies. ;)

I've always thought the 'Leave A Legacy' tiles were a cheap replacement to the 'Walk Around The World' bricks, which, to me, have a much better place in WDW.

We have to be understanding here. Ever CP person and most CMs get an opportunity to do a tile for free, and they were included as gifts. So, a good chunk of those 550,000 were free (and still cost production). I would say a more realistic view is that about 350,000 tiles were sold at about $5-10 profit (after you take out costs of construction, creation of the area, maintenance and staffing for 8 years). That is still a good profit margin, but I would firmly argue that the profitability of the early days is LONG gone, and it was starting to lose cash.

I do hope they keep the tiles, but I hope we get at least a design update. I really don't like how the tiles relate to the tombstones, and the empty stones just look bad. Now that they have a set number, they could work with a specific amount of panels necessary.

Wait wait wait what?!!! I haven't read the whole thread yet but when was this?? I had to pay 19 dollars?? I don't remember and that's with our discount we get durning xmas. Really? you got yours for free? =(

As for the tile, they're kinda eyesores, but that picture will always mean something to me. I took it with my boyfriend of 9 years and now we'll have something to share with our children one day.

You sure that wasn't said jokingly? That's how I would take it.

Well, you would have taken it wrong then...

I am not saying that everyone feels that their complaining is responsible for the wands demise, but there are numerous people out there who do feel that way and were not shy about saying it.
