How bad is the ToT drop?

Sounds like a bunch of double-talk to me. Are you telling me that the thrill of the first drop for a newby of 4 stories is less equivalent of an initial drop of 2 stories? Don't you think that if a newby started out with a 2 story drop that they would encounter less anxiety when they encounter a drop of 4 stories? Like I stated, it all depends on what elevator they get placed in. As for the OP, I hope you get a 2 story drop prior to the 4 story drop.
Sorry Buford, Tom is telling you the truth. The elevator itself makes no difference. It's all random.

I would suggest to try it. I tried it in 2012 for the first time along with space mountain. I have been going on test track and splash mountain, expedition everest, and other high thrill rides. At first it was scary I had butterflies in my stomach, but it was well worth it! I could see the whole park. I went on it I think 3 times in a row but then I got really scared and couldn't go on it anymore. I suggest you try it at least once in your lifetime, you might even like it!

And, isn't that what I originally stated? I believe I said "It all depends on which elevator you get". Some drop 4 stories to begin with and others 2 stories. Fine, OP, you are going to eventually get the same up and down ride regardless of which elevator you choose; but, if you choose the one that drops you 4 stories first, be sure to hold on tighter than the 2 story drop.

I get really bad motion sickness even in the car and I am ok. I get very Dizzy on Mission Space even the easy one. You should defiantly skip that!

of.[/QUOTE]The way you phrased your first comment "Depends on which elevator you get..." was worded to imply the ride was different if you got on the left elevator versus the right. The reality is the two elevators share a randomized drop sequence. You could feasibly get on both elevators and get exactly the same ride. It doesn't depend on what elevator you get on, it depends on what computer sequence you get.

Does one elevator drop more stories than the other to begin with? Don't you think that would have an impact on the OP if it was a 4 story drop vs. 2 story drop? I know it does to me and this is why there is a difference in thrill factor.

Tower of Terror, especially the WDW version, could be the best ride of all time.

Missing it out of fear would be an absolute travesty.

Non-drowsy Dramamine...

When I was younger I could ride any coaster known to man all day long and feel fine. I hadn't been to a theme park in several years until we went to WDW in 2012. First ride was EE and about 2 seconds into the backwards portion I felt dizzy, light-headed and my stomach was uneasy the rest of the day. Took a 24-hour non-drowsy Dramamine every morning and never had an issue the rest of my week long trip.

I can't ride EE anymore. Same thing with me on the backwards part.....extremely nauseating. I get to hold purses now.

Depends on who you ask. Most people would say it's not all that intense, but some will still say it's terrifying.

Oh, it's definitely terrifying! But that's because it's one of the best products to come out of Imagineering in a LONG time.

Try the non-drowsy Dramamine. Works wonders for me. Although I still can't handle any of those Mad Tea Party type rides.

I don't normally do good with thrill rides, but my fiancee really wants to ride it and I love The Twilight Zone so I think I am going to give it a try. But my stomach gets in knots just thinking about that drop. Looking at it scares the crap out of me. Lol.

That's what makes it so fun. My wife was a nervous wreck before ever getting on it. She rides it one time and now it's her favorite ride.

It doesn't matter which of the four elevator shafts you go to in the boiler room, and it doesn't matter which of the two drop shafts you end up in....the "drop sequence" could be the exact same every time you ride, or different every time, or the same 3 times in a row then another one the next 2 times. It's 100% random and has nothing to do with which "elevator the guest selects".

The only thing the OP should take from this pointless back-and-forth is that there are several combinations of drops you can experience, but that they ALL travel the same vertical distance (overall). Some have longer drops, while others have several shorter drops as it stops mid-way down.

I have never taken dramamine before riding tower, and like I said, I'm prone to some of the worst motion sickness you can get. I can't ride RnRC, Tea Cups, EE or Mission Space (even the "tame" side). Heck, sometimes the few spins in Toy Story Mania get to me. Tower, for me, just causes an adrenaline rush. It has actually gotten RID of headaches I've had.

I definitely recommend giving it a shot. It's about 30-seconds you'd have to endure if it doesn't go well, then you can find a bench and settle down.

I first rode it in the summer of 1994, right after it opened. I was 14. My stomach was in absolute knots, and just kept getting worse as we waited in the boiler room.

That continued on subsequent trips too! Today, I can't get back in line fast enough, but it's still a little unnerving.
