Hi Everyone,
With the rising cost of just about everything from gas to food I was wondering if the corwd levels have been affected at WDW? We go every year in July for our DD B'day so we're used to heavy crowds but it would be nice if it was jsut a bit less crowded this year. :)

I'm guessing here, but I would think that most people that have planned their trip, have already planned and made deposits so even though it may be tight to go, they are not cancelling any trips. I'm NOT! :)

If there is a slow down, it probably will take 6-8 months before it starts to show on crowd levels, and even then it may be neglible. Disney does a good job of keepinig repeat customers like most on this site.
JMHO!

the flight from my city to orlando is actually cheaper this year. only $104 round trip from jetblue. I don't know how they make money..but hey....as long as i'm saving money.

We just got back from our WDW trip Saturday and it actually felt more crowded than the same time last year. We noticed a lot more high school groups and more foreigners (mostly Europeans) than we've seen before. With the weak dollar, it must be making it a more affordable holiday for those across the big pond.

I don't think the economy has gotten so bad that people are starting to deny themselves a WDW vacation. Gas prices did affect which vehicle to drive. Instead of the roomy Trailblazer, we drove the Malibu. We saved a lot of money on gas, but had less room to bring back our goodies. Its still cheaper for us to drive than it is to fly. It would cost us over $600 to fly to WDW versus $47 for a tank of gas at $3.59 a gallon.

WDW set record attendance in 2007, it wouldn't surprise me if they did the same in 2008.

I am seeing no slowdown due to the economy, in fact, if anything, things are busier this year than last.

I noticed the exact same thing last week. It's interesting.

Thanks for the replies.
We do actually enjoy the crowds, my DD and I are people watchers so when the parks get packed we enjoy watching first timers go crazy with the crowds and all of the parents that just try to drag their kids around and cram every ride/attraction in that they can. :)

How do crowds compare from March to July?

I was just at WDW in March of 2007 and may be coming back the last week of July 2008.

How do crowds compare for these times of year. Is it about the same?

I don't think I've ever gone down in March but I can tell you that the crowds in July are pretty large. Unless you hit the parks early you will be fighting long lines all day.

I'm staying at the Contemporary so I figure I'll take advantage of the morning and evening extra magic hours...do the parks as they open, spend the afternoons at the pool, and go back at dusk.

Hopefully that will make a bit of difference with lines
