Yep. My order of favorites is:

1. Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
2. Raiders of the Lost Ark
3. Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull
4. ... open space...
5. Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom.

I have to agree 100% with that ranking.

Short Round was the most annoying kid ever, and Willie Scott the most irritating screaming female.

And then there were the bugs. *shudder*

No to Shia. Sorry, but I can't stand him as an actor or a person. I think the definite best thing to do is reboot the series. It needs to be Indiana Jones, not Mutt William's. Plus Steven Spielberg already said that he didn't even plan on Mutt taking over the hat and whip.

1. There is only ONE Indiana Jones and he is Harrison Ford.

2. Robert Pattinson looks like a foot.

3. I might accept Andrew Garfield as Indy....IF and ONLY IF.....I suffered brain damage from having a steel beam shoved through my skull Phineas Gage-style.

I would be good if the concept of the "reboot" was wiped from the memory of everyone in movie "bidness".

Do you all remember a guy named Walt Disney? He used to be a producer in the movie "bidness," and he was always looking for new stories to take a chance on. Rarely did he actually do a sequel, although he did explore new stories with established characters. And on occasion he re-made a story, but it was rare and only when he felt he could now really do the story better (like with new technologies or a professional version of something that he had done in the beginning as a novice).

Mostly he looked for stories from many sources which might make good, original, creative movies... He did find other avenues to tell or extend the story, like in television or a theme park ride; but even that was creative and new.

I wonder if he would make it in the "bidness" today.

Agreed with the above but.......

Weird thought- Aren't all the MM and DD shorts, along with Chip and Dale, Pluto ones, Goofy's etc. all 'sequels' of a sort? Now before you 'go off', think about it. They are sorta like Indy movies. Same characters in different situations and the plots are unrelated. So, in essence, Walt did make sequels of a sort and Indy movies are just long, big budget shorts.
Ok. Thanks and let the attack commence.

I agree, which is why I say just to continue the series with the son, or new stories. Don't remake the original. I also stated that Walt himself did re-use characters in other stories.

As for the Indy stories, it is good to remember that Raiders of the Lost Ark itself was a throwback to the old moviehouse serial shorts that ran in the '40s before the feature. So, in that way it can be said that it is intentionally like a big-budget, feature version of old serial shorts.

I guess the discussion can turn on, for new stories, would it be better to start where the orginal series left off, perhaps with the next generation (or even older Indy); or to recast and use the same characters but for different stories altogether. Maybe that is what they meant by "reboot," but I was originally rebelling against it in the framework of a remake, like the superhero movies have essentially been when they "rebooted" a "franchise" (clearly terms that the accountants liked more than the creative people).

I'd like to see an extension of the TV series- young Indy, old Indy and mid-aged Indy. Do a series of films. Some could have a storyline that spans Indy over time with a common foe or story element that he's encountered throughout his life. I absolutely loved the TV series and thought it was a great way to explore his character and history as they intertwine. Alas, it was pretty expensive but would fit in with a bigger budget that a movie would allow.
