Houses/Villas on-site.

I am hoping someone will know what I am talking about....

when I was a kid (late 70's)... we stayed at our own house type place... I thought they called them villas or chalets... I am 90% sure it was on Disney property and on/near the golf course. I remember we all felt so special having our own place at Disney.

just curious if anyone remembers this and if it still exists...since I can't find anything with looking for Disney resort info. hopefully my recollection is somewhat correct. LOL

Thanks!!

Sounds like you're remembering the Fairway Villas at the Lake Buena Vista resort. These villas became part of the Disney Institute, but then were torn down when they built Saratoga Springs. (Many of the central buildings from the DI still exists as part of SS, though)

There's also the Treehouse Villas that were part of Lake Buena Vista and are still standing, but they are not rented out to Guests anymore. Some sit unused, and others house International Program CMs.

I think they probably were The Treehouse Villas, now known as the Villas at the Disney Institute. I believe they are now used for housing students/CMs from the College Program. If you stay at POR or POFQ, you can see some on the ferry ride to DTD, and possibly even see a few around OKW.

Here is the old guest map of the Villas at the Disney Institute. Originally opened between 1973-1975 as Disney's Village Resort. Rooms were divided between Townhomes, Bungalows, Fairway Villas, Grand Vista Homes, and Treehouse Villas.

I remember staying at the townhouses in the early 70's, they were beautiful and right outside our sliding door was the pool. I recall my mom getting to use if for free because it was owned by Hallmark.
