I was so excited to have some brisket at Disney that I decided to hop over today for lunch.
I have had a lot of BBQ in my life. I grew up in Texas and it was a weekly thing growing up. Locally here, I detest Sonny's in O-town. IT is the laziest of BBQ.
That being said, this was the second worst brisket sandwich I have ever had. First, there was no seasoning or rub in the meat. At all. Second, it was not slow cooked. I would doubt that this beef was in the heat for more than 4 hours. I would say about 3. The part that was eatible was chewy as rawhide. The big problem was THE FAT!
That was all fat. Chewy grizzly fat. I asked for some leaner cuts and was told that it is just cut that way there. I said I could not eat it and was brought two more slices that were more than 50% fat too. So, here is more than half the meat I was given that I simply could not eat.
Now to be fair, the chopped chicken looked fantastic. The sauce is really darn good. Best I have had in town. The beans were beyond great. They let me substitute for the slaw.
So, the brisket was a bust, but the chicken looks like it may be a winner next trip.
Oh, no AP discount either.
