Hotel room temperatures

Hello all,

I have arrived at SSR today and am in a nice one bedroom in congress park. The location is perfect and I couldn't of asked for a better location. However, I am having an issue with the a/c and room temperature.

When I called maintenance they said that the rooms are now activated by a sensor and that is the reason my room is still 77 degrees. For one, I still think that kind of stinks since you can't come back to a cold room, but now my room hasn't dropped below 76 even when I am in the room and moving. Has anyone else had issues with rather warm rooms at SSR or any other Disney resorts.

If they're using motion sensors, that makes me want to try some kind of toy that keeps moving - maybe one of those things where light makes the wheel turn? Or the bobbing ird that drinks the water?

But as someone said above, it sounds like the AC in your room has issues. They should definitely get it fixed asap or get you into a new room. No AC = not acceptable.

Gotta ask - how would a system like that work at night, while everyone is sleeping? :).

It can and does shut off on you (or go back to some preset temperature that is usually too warm), unfortunately. And it can get sweltering. I didn't do a search, but there are usually ways to override the thermostat (and disable the motion sensing) that have been discussed here on WDW Magic and other Disney boards.

Get a balloon in the parks. Put it where the sensor will pick up its movement. :D

Or, like someone said, try the bypass thing. You might have to re-bypass every day, though. I did the bypassing and it worked fine overnight, but sometimes it would kick off (or be turned off by housekeeping?) during the day, so I switched to the ballon, tied in place, and that worked great.

Defaults to higher temp, likely 78.

Have you tried bypassing the AC controls? Our room at the Contemporary had the motion sensor AC unit. I easily found the bypass code through google that keeps the AC going non-stop. You pay top-dollar for a room, I expect the AC to run 24/7 if I want.

Believe it or not the maintenance guy added the code in when I complained. It has been running smoothly and consistently now.

I'll be staying at SSR on our next trip, and I have to sleep in a really cold room or I get restless. So, thanks for flagging this up- I'll have to have a chat at reception when we check in I think ;)

It is actually very easy to do the code yourself. Typing in the model number into youtube brings up a direct bypass code that is very easy. I did this the remainder of the trip. (every 24 hours)

It's definitely uncomfortable, and I am one of the few people who would rather be warm than cold. Sweaty is another matter, and it's not pleasant.
