Hotel Parking Question - One overnight extra guest/car

I have been trying to find out through other means but basically:

Context/Details:
1) Visiting WDW, staying at a moderate, DME to and from MCO so no car
2) Have family who lives in Tampa who we were planning on having come the evening before, stay in our room, we all drive to and do Universal the next day, then they go home at the end of the day.

Questions:
1) Can we set it up to do a 1 night pass? We're planning to only spend one day at Universal, so I want to get there first thing. This requires having the family member there so I can get them to wake up before noon, plus would eliminate about a 2 hour drive for them that morning. Disney's changed their parking rules since the last time I've been there - is this even possible now?
2) Would it just be better for us to uber to Universal and meet up with them when they get there?

Wouldn't you need to put them on the reservation if they are staying in the room?
I'm guessing you could pay for just one night of parking.
People drive from Orlando to Tampa to go to Busch Gardens so I don't see the difference in a family driving from Tampa to Orlando to go to Universal.
They should plan accordingly if they want to arrive early. Or they should just rent their own room.

In short yes it would be better for you to uber and them to meet you there.

This is my first time actually planning a trip myself, so I don't have familiarity with if they have to be or not.

Re: the drive - it's definitely a doable drive for the person, but the bigger issue is the likelihood of getting a text at 10am saying they are getting breakfast then heading out after an errand.

You may be right, though.

Just have them tell the guard they are there visiting you and they will let them in, you should have no issues
Will they be ok overnight though?

If you know that's their personality then I wouldn't expect it to differ that much even if they stay with you.
Are you going alone? If not then I'd just worry about your immediate party getting to Universal and having a good time and this other person can meet up with you if/when they ever arrive.

And as far as I'm aware you can't just have random overnight guests in a room.
