Hotel for three adults?

Hi! I was just wondering what the best resort(s) for three adults would be. A lot of the value resorts seem to be geared towards families with small children (i.e. two double beds), but are there any with three beds? If not, we'll probably just look at rooms with two queen-sizes. If someone could recommend the best resorts for us though, that'd be great! We're just three females in our early-20s.

Also, our budget is about $200 per night, and I think I already know the answer but I just want to confirm this: the prices for resorts, when they say like $182 per night (for example), is that per person ($182 times 3 = $546 per night total) or is that the actual price per night ($182 divided by 3 = $61 per night each)?

The price per night is based on the total occupancy allowed in the room. So it is actual price per night, not price per person.

Oh and to answer your question.....the moderates are nice for 3 adults, but you will have to share a bed with someone. Depending on the time of year and discount available the values and moderates should be under $200. It you can swing a little more the Cabins of Fort Wilderness will offer 3 beds, but there are definitely advantages and disadvantages for those.

Thanks for the clarification on price! I was sure that's what it was, but I didn't want to assume and have my budget be completely off.

We're going during the value season of January (after the marathon), so I've definitely been looking at value hotels and been back and forth with the moderates. I haven't considered the cabins though, so I'll look into those more. Thank you

Also, just so your budgeting is accurate, Disney imposes an additional charge for a 3rd adult in a room. $10 at values, $15 at moderates and $25 at deluxes per night.

Just to piggyback on what others said... for 3 adults on a budget, I'd recommend a single standard room at any of the moderate resorts. As compared with a value resort (which lacks these things), you'll appreciate the extra square footage, the queen beds (values have full-size beds; moderates have queen-sized, except for the "pirate rooms" at CBR, although I can't see 3 20-something women clamoring for one of those anyway!), the second sink in the vanity area, the privacy curtain/doors between the vanity area and bedroom, the shaded bus depots and multiple pools, and if there are any coffee or tea-drinkers in your party, the in-room coffeemaker.

Port Orleans French Quarter is a terrific choice, in that it is the only moderate resort that has a small footprint: you needn't walk ten minutes to reach the food court or trust a distant bus depot for transportation (or pay extra for a "preferred"-category room to avoid such hassles), unlike the other moderates. It also offers a boat launch to DTD, and is centrally located between the parks. The only things the other moderates have over it: some better-themed main pools, and table service restaurants. Port Orleans French Quarter is the only moderate that doesn't have a table service restaurant (no matter how many "Tiana's Palace would be a great table service idea for POFQ" threads we put on here, Disney has yet to take notice [sigh]), although you could reach the Port Orleans Riverside table service venue via a scenic 10-15 minute stroll along the Sassagoula River, as those two resorts are "connected".

If you enjoy the solitude of a spread-out resort, Port Orleans Riverside (beautiful and with a choice of theming in the different sections, also with boat service to DTD) or Caribbean Beach (newly-refurbished) would be my recommendations.

I'm assuming that's $15 per extra person per night (for moderates)? That's good to know, thank you! Hopefully that doesn't break our budget too much ... that'll just be an extra $5 per person (as we'll just split the extra charge). Thanks for letting me know

I'm glad you brought up POFQ, it's been the main moderate I've been looking at for us! There's a few in-park Disney restaurants that are table service, so I honestly don't think the girls and I will mind if our hotel doesn't offer one. And I personally don't care about swimming, but even so I doubt the girls will mind if they're not as well-themed as other resorts.

I haven't looked too much into POR or Caribbean Beach, but now that I'm certain moderate is the way to go (versus value), I'll be looking more closely at the other moderate hotels. Thank you very much for all this wonderful information

Oh, another thing -- be sure you are aware of the different "pricing seasons" for WDW resorts. If your dates are flexible, you can sometimes save hundreds just by moving your trip back or forward by a week or two. Because the higher pricing seasons tend to coincide with school vacations, when flight prices go up as well, you can often save money on your hotel AND transportation by picking a "low crowd" season, AND you get the benefit of shorter waits. Win-win!

For sure! We've been talking about January 2017, as my birthday is on the 21st. I know there's a marathon happening, roughly the weekend before that, and also MLK Day which can be a pricey day or weekend. Most of January, and early February I believe, should be value-season though

Another idea that may work would be POR...2 queens and the pull-down wall-bed. If one of the roomies is small enough, this might be an option. My DD24 slept on it in January; she is 5'6" and about 125 lbs. She said it was comfortable.

This is good to know! I weigh a little more than your DD, but I'm only 5'5", and one of the girls is much tinier than me (the other is tall, 5'8"). That's probably something to look into, assuming the price isn't too overwhelming. Thanks for the tip

Caribbean beach also has that pull down bed now so there's another choice.

The pull down beds are great for extra room but they are smaller than a twin size bed designed more for a child. I couldn't see anyone over 4'10" fitting on one.

There has been a lot of great advice and knowledge given here already and I will not add in on that. What I will add in is that PORS is one of the nicest moderate resorts there is. You can stay in the Mansions at Partier place and have two queen beds along with all the peace and quiet you can handle. Great little bar with piano, boats to DTD. There is fishing, boat rentals Cane Pole Fishing, Quiet pools , Laundry facilities spread through out a main pool. Biking and has a good place to eat and a wonderful food court to boot. Great gift shop. This resort has a lot to offer and is laid back but very beautiful. This would be my first choice and my second choice would be the Coronado.

The pull down beds are great for extra room but they are smaller than a twin size bed designed more for a child. I couldn't see anyone over 4'10" fitting on one.

From what I understand they are just a bit larger than a crib mattress.

I also doubt they are built to take the use of adults. And can see them breaking a lot if people larger than a child continue to use them.
