this is just a guess, but I’m thinking one of the reasons for Paris to get this Up swings ride is to split costs of reskinning Silly Symphony Swings to better fit Pixar Pier.

So OG55 were wondering if the Up swings for Paris are actually just DCA's rethemed Silly Symphony Swings. I didn't really consider this as dismantling a basic spinner and shipping it over seas just kind of seems cumbersome. How much could it cost to just build one of those from scratch? But I guess if you absolutely have to move SSS for the path to the Simba lot or for some expanded queue space for Coco then I guess why not?

I think your guess makes more sense which is why the swings weren't in the original Paris concept art. They probably got designed for DCA first and then at some point they thought well why don't we add this to the Studios Park is Paris too which could use all the attractions it can get.

Hot take. Disney California Adventure will be better off with the avengers rides than it would be if they kept the trolley. I know. I know. It’s sad and ideally they would have both but the park needs more attractions that draw people outside the diehard Disney fan club to the park.

DL would greatly benefit from a modern skyway. Galaxy’s edge to toon town for example is not an ideal trek.

I enjoy the outdoor seating more at Trader Sam’s than the interior. Such a comfy place to relax and enjoy great drinks and good food.

I’ve always disliked how they altered POTC, they should have kept the original exactly how it was. There’s countless other versions in the world and preserving the original would have been cool. I get it’s controversial and whatnot but it is basically one of the last projects Walt ever worked on. It’s true testament to how well it has aged that it still is running today.

I am not sure how I feel about Walt getting an animatronic. Just is an eerie feeling, guess we’ll see soon enough how well they pull it off.

DCA’s San Fransokyo is awesome, I love how creative the cuisine is there. The music really kicks as well, it’s just such a cool little area of the park. My favorite thing is chatting with Japanese people there because I speak Japanese. Their reaction to it all is so cool and hear them talk about how much they love the homage.

Also I really wish that the Halloween party was at Disneyland. DCA is decent for it but I can only imagine how much better it would be in DL.

After a few different days at the parks this month, my new hot take is that I think they really need to rethink the food festivals at DCA.

The food at the festivals in general have been pretty hit-or-miss for a few years now, but I think they are doing them too often, and the result is a lot of half-baked ideas. On top of that, I'm not a fan of running it down the spine when there are more spaces that should be better utilized.

In my head, Disney cuts this down to two time periods, a Food and Wine from March into June and a Holiday from November into January. Until they start building Avatar, the vast majority of the booths should be in Hollywood Land using the various soundstages (and the Hyperion courtyard if Disney is going to refuse to run a show in that building). Do some extra stuff at Paradise Garden and along the Mountain Road for Grizzly Peak, but get the booths off the main drag.

Then, when it comes to the food, Disney should try to use the food festivals as a tester for items to become in the regular rotation at the park. I think this would lead to higher-quality food offerings both at the festival and in the parks afterwards, as they're already putting in the R&D time to develop new recipes. Backing this up, I believe that the best food item they had at the festival during this run was spam fried rice, which is straight up what they have at the Aulani. I'd love them to add that to the menu at Fortune Cookery, but that's also the only thing I would say was good enough to stick around, where, in past food festivals, they've had some recipes that could have been made into permanent options somewhere at the resort.

I agree. I wrote the food festivals off about two years ago. The gimmicky lukewarm overpriced small portioned items got old. I find that just about any item you get at any actual restaurant / quick service at the park will be better than anything you can get in those booths. Which makes sense as they are running all day 365 days a year. They re well oiled machines compared to the booths.
