Sir Nim, a member on these boards, has recreated the Horizons song instrumental. It is really cool and is available for download. Check his signature for the address.

I have the majority of the music played around the attraction (including music in certain scenes). If anyone's interested, give me a pm. I am looking for one piece that I do not have: The loading music (it has the piano in it). Again, PM me if you have this.

Actually the score of "New Horizons" was heard near the beginning of the Tapestry of Dreams parade music! It took me by surprise when I heard it.

Horizons was my favorite ride too - I was a CP cast member in 2000 so I got to watch the demolition daily on the way to work! Tragic!

God I bawled so hard watching that video of Horizons, it trult was my FAVORITE attraction, and that fact that I can never ever go on it again hurts, a lot. I wish intead of demolishing the rides they could have transported them to a new park or retired rides and charged a butt load of money to get in, but that is defiantely not realistic or highly logical.

Best of the favorites?

Yeah "Horizons" by General Electric was the most one of the most "favorite" rides at Epcot Center.

I would say the best" ride was the original "Journey into Imagination" with Dream Finder.

Admit it.

Hands down the best ride in Epcot Center was definitely "Journey into Imagination" the first version.

If you think of it I bet you spent more time and fun in "Journey into Imagination".

Ok, that belongs in another thread.

Horizons was my all time favorite attraction. I like others but I still hold a grudge against them because Horizons was still tops.

My favorite part: riding thru the giant omnisphere theatre. It felt like I was flying!

I loved the way the ride was designed so you move sideways. For the most part, you couldn't see the other see the other cars. This made you feel like you had the whole place to yourself. I always rode Horizons like 5 times everytime I was at EPCOT. It's sad to have seen such a great attraction torn down. I would love to see the attraction rebuilt in a building that would withstan the strain the ride put on it. That would satisfy so many of us.

Pixie,

As you are aware I am a "thrill seeker", but boy do I miss Horizons and World of Motion.

Everybody's different. What I am getting at is there needs to be balance. If they just keep pumping thrill rides and attractions and tearing down the classics or not build some new classic the parks will not what they are meant to be: a place for EVERYONE. If they start to cater to only one type of person then they will lose a lot of money since a lot of people would not go.

Having a few new thrill rides is ok, but we need a good classic ride built, or two.

You've got it.

And I truly think the Roy campaign helps with this (consumer section).

It's sad when there's room for both. . . but the thrill takes over:

What I don't understand is why so many people believe in balance in the Disney parks EXCEPT the Magic Kingdom? Why do most people think that the MK should be a "kiddie park" instead of a family park. Now I'm not just talking about Alien Encounter here. The change of the Diamond Horseshoe, Dreamflight, and, as much as I hate to say it, probably Carousel of Progress and The Timekeeper in the near future are also replacements of more adult oriented attractions in favor of kiddie fare. Now that doesn't mean that we don't enjoy Buzz Lightyear or the new Stitch show but what I am saying is THERE ALSO NEEDS TO BE A BALANCE IN THE MAGIC KINGDOM AS WELL.

I probably know how you felt. I saw deconstruction photos of the ride and how they left the "core" of the ride standing to be the final piece to be taken down. It kinda made it worse because one of the photos was labeled with what the pieces once were in the ride (ie: track, roof, etc..)

The whole concept of family theme parks is not the kids have 5 rides and the parents have 5 rides. The concept of family theme parks is to have rides and attractions that the entire family can experience TOGETHER. A lot of people had to be left out of AE, which is why they are making it easier for everyone to experience.

I was talking about this with my mom the other day. She said the same thing. Disney is getting rid of the rides that everyone could enjoy together. I am not a big thrill ride person and neither is my mom but I will go occasionally where my mom will not even cross the threshold.

Walt said one time that his concept for Disneyland came to him while at an amusement park with his daughters. They were off riding rides and he was on a park bench. He wanted a place where they could enjoy the rides and the park together.

Yes and I'm sure there are alot of people that are left out of Splash Mountain and Tower of Terror but those are probably the 2 most popular attractions Disney has ever come up with. And in my opinion they are the two BEST attractions currently in the parks. Not because of their thrill as much as it is their themeing and story.

And I am now too tall to ride the Teacups so now I am left out of it. Well, I think we should tear it down. And I don't think too many adults enjoy the Character Meet and Greets. So they all need to go. Does that make sense? No it doesn't. There are PLENTY of things at ALL of the parks for everyone (actually MOST things can be enjoyed by everyone). But I think there has to some things that are mainly for kids and some things mainly for the older set.

And didn't we say that we wanted more balance? Well I think balance works both ways.

Easy, now!

I agree that AE was very well-done, a true classic, and one of my personal favorites. However, I think it would have done better at MGM. Apparently, WDI thought that the MK should be a place where you feel "safe" and AE contradicted this. MGM, however, is more "adventuresome."

Just a thought. But *sigh* what a shame. I'll be intrigued to see how they pull Stitch off.

(I think AE was welcome based on Mission to Mars's low reception. It IS sad to see AE go.)

I agree to a point and I disagree to a point. I do think that there needs to be some for each but not all of the older set or the kids like the things that you have fit into their categories. There are some 70+ "kids" that stand in line time and again to ride Tower of Terror and splash mountain but there are some 30yr old "kids" that don' want to do much more than the boat across the lagoon at EPCOT. The same goes for the real kids some have like the slow nice rides others like the thrill.

But where I disagree is the fact that the parks are all made on the original concept of FAMILY. What is the bases for the new Magical Gatherings campaign? A place where families can have fun together grandparents to grand kids all at the same time. If there aren't any rides they can all enjoy the campaign is pointless. The balance of 5 and 5 like you said earlier doesn't work to well if the 5 for adults are thrill and the 5 for kids are kiddy.

Do understand that this is all said with the utmost respect. :)
