Hopper + Gift Card=AP...Doable?

I have an unused 6-day Hopper and a $200 Disney gift card and would like to get an AP. I know I can upgrade the Hopper to an AP, but can I also use the gift card to help pay for the AP? Sounds like a dumb question, but you never know with Disney and ticket policies.
