I have a 5 year old boy and a 9 year old girl and we watched a clip of it on you tube and none of us were impressed, but I keep seeing tons of great reviews???? What do you think? Yes or No?

Yes. My son, who was 8 when we went, loved it, as did the 16-year-old birthday boy we sat next to. It's a fun show and the food was good. The chef came out and talked to us beforehand (because the little man with Mickey in my avatar has type 1 diabetes) and made sure to send something special for dessert.

It is a hit or miss thing. Either you like it or you don't. If you watched the video clip and you didn't like it, you may want to skip it. I've known people that I thought would have liked it only to have them go and think it was tacky and stupid. Of course there have been others, like my wife who think it is going to be dumb only to absolutely love the show. For $55 to $65 per person you should be sure that it is something you might want to see. Make sure the video you watch is clear and that you can tell what it is really like. I thought it was a hoot, but that's just me.

I went to it thinking I might not like it, and my wife and I ended up loving it! That said our daughter(not quite 2 at the time) did not like. She cried when I got to go on stage(yes I was picked) and seemed eager to get out, but these are not issues you should have with your kids. Two things to consider, it takes a lot of time to get there and back etc...go if you have the time or are not too far from the campground. In terms of value, if you drink it can actually be a decent value, they keep em coming!

:joyfull::joyfull:We try to hit it every other year. The show has not changed since it opened (other than having the opening theme song change - copywrite problems). Appears a little hokey at times - but we love it. Great time to be had if you are willing to let your hair down and go with the flow. Meal not something to write home about, desert is great. Have taken friends there each visit and they all have loved the show. Forget the videos and just go and enjoy -- not often you get to see a show that your children 'of all ages' can see with you and not have off colored 'jokes' or foul language used.

We took our 4 year old grandson back in 2009. He enjoyed it. It is a nice family show. Here is a picture of him watching show and eating dinner.

It really depends on your family. If you enjoy corny, cheeseball humor without the slightest bit of edginess (a la the television show, "Hee Haw"), then you'll enjoy Hoop-de-doo. If your family members like a little more bite or pop culture awareness in their comedy, the show won't hold much interest for you.

My family has loved it and we plan to take our kids for their inaugural visit next May, but then again, we love cheesy humor (or at least, we do if we've had enough all-you-care-to-drink beer and sangria). ;)

My only concern is that the OP watched a video and was not much impressed by the show. $55 to $65 per person is a lot of money to throw out on a show that might be pretty "meh" to a person. We like the show, but that is just our sense of humor. Although, the show has not held as much enjoyment for me as it did in 2008. For some reason that cast was far better (imho) than any others. Claire DeLune in that performance was hysterical, and she pulled off her lines and timing perfectly! :hilarious:

If you watched a video and thought to yourselves that it was not good for you, chances are that it would not be good for you in person. There is so much to do at WDW that I think perhaps an expensive gamble is not worth the effort for you. For the sake of disclosure, I don't generally like things such as Hoop De Doo, but I have been twice and enjoyed it both times. You never know...

Right now I am trying to decide on this for my first night or MVMCP.......
Having done both a gazillion times...and having seen the changes that have happened to both...I would vote Hoop Dee Doo a million times before MVMCP.

If I had to choose between the Hoop and MNSSHP, I'd probably go with the party. But the Christmas party is fairly lame.

That's MHO, anyway. :)

The Hoop De doo is the longest continuously running stage/dinner show in the world! It opened in Oct 1971.

It is always fun and worth the money! everyone cant help but be smiling and applauding by the end of the show!

Hoop opened in the summer of 1974, but yes, it is the longest running dinner show in the country.

I'm a huge fan, though I'm admittedly biased in that regard. ;)
